That’s where you’d be wrong. I MUST eat meat because your plastic alternatives taste like . I know, my sister was a weirdo for a decade (until she became a doctor and decided to eat meat again, I wonder why?) and ive had my fair share of fake food. Its .
I cannot possibly get the necessary nutrients by eating food I despise. |

| No. You don't have to eat meat. You can get all the nutrients you need without killing any animals. It's a selfish desire. Saying it's a need is just ridiculous. |

Its not a selfish desire. Can you claim that any other animal that is omnivorous is selfish if it eats meat?
No.
I guarantee that any other carbon based life form in the universe that needs nutrients from things other than star light or other naturally occurring phenomena also eat other animals.
The same stupid analogy can be made to competition of any form, if you do not choose one or the other you are being selfish to the other party. If I read The Seattle Times and not the Seattle PI, and that is why the Seattle PI went out of business then you could say I was selfish because I made the choice to do one thing over another completely comparable thing.
Its not selfishness, its personal choice and its one that you have made to do, and other have made, either consciously or through the evolutionary path that we as humans have taken.
Imposing and criticizing a perfectly legitimate choice of another person is more selfish than any of the arguments you have made. |

So! We're animals, eh? Top of the food chain, mother, and all that good stuff. Glad we evolved here from our silly old ancestors. Good old selfishness got us here (not debatable), it's great being a human. But , I want that TV. My ancestors would just kill their way to the top. I guess I'll just go shoot up Best Buy, because I'm a dominant animal and I fight to get what I want, like the rest of the dominant animals.
We're not animals anymore. We've evolved past that. That's a ing stupid excuse to be lazy and selfish. |
Nope very early on when our primate ancestors developed as social animals they would have come up with unspoken rules of conduct that is and isn't acceptable. This wasn't because some actions are innately moral or immoral. It is because following these rules creates a society that maximises the happiness of all members, and really is the only way to build a working cooperative group.. which is why basics like murder, theft, etc are almost universally seen as no-nos across cultures.
These rules never extended to our ancestors' prey because not hunting prey wouldn't make the group any better off. Similarly my eating meat does not infringe on the rights of any other members of my community so I see nothing wrong with it. |

It's completely selfish. You don't need to do it to survive. It's so easy to live without meat, but people are selfish and lazy. That's all it is.
Why is it so hard to admit? I'm selfish and lazy too. I have a car. I could walk, but the car takes less time and is easier. |

We are predators. Why are you denying that part of our nature? |

read "the china study" |
That's a book, not a journal. The beauty of peer reviewed journals is the fact that they aren't published until approved by other scientists.
A book can have as much bias and fiction as the author deems necessary. I could say I have a 46 inch penis and was raised by wolves in a book without any evidence to support it. I could only claim that in a journal if I actually had evidence to support it.
See the difference? |
