Haha. :p Well at least you got out... I still have college to finish before I do so as well.

You're right, it is a book. Perhaps you would prefer to read the 32 peer reviewed journal articals that came from the study instead.... I read both. Predictably, I found the journal articles more informative, as they omit Campbell's conjecture and opinion; however, the data is the same and the conclusions are ultimately the same... the book is more accessable for most though.

eeuuuuggh, I'd rather not. I already spend too much time reading journals on certain medications and cardiovascular disease, but I have no doubt that they would show far less bias than the book :)

As for the "eating meat is unnecessary and selfish" argument, that's the most hypocritical statement you can make in a vegetarian debate. Let me repeat myself: thousands and thousands of animals die so a vegetarian can live in the wealthy civilisation that allows them the freedom to regulate their diet and live without meat in the first place. You can't stop the blood on your hands, you can only minimise it. And if vegetarians really wanted to minimise the death, they'd leave their cushy existence and go live in the ing woods. Or better yet, shoot themselves in the head.

This is a good point. Sadly, 9/10 people wouldn't grasp this if you tried to explain it to them.

Basically yes.

I believe that if you want to argue something to someone else you should at least have a decent understanding of it, and there aren't many proselytizing vegetarians who have a reasonable understanding of economics.

My answer is; for dietary/taste reasons. However my answer for why it's ok is simply because they are far less intelligent. Just because something looks sad when it gets poked doesn't mean we shouldn't do that. That's just a human emotion, we should be above that. Ethics for humans shouldn't have anything to do with ethics for animals. If people took the lets not kill any organisms whatsoever approach then that'd just let pests take over the world and eat all our crops.

If someone doesn't eat meat because they can't think about how that meat has to die for it to be on the table, then basically they are a (even if they are a girl, even girls should be better than that), but at least they aren't delusional. I put proselytizing value based vegetarians on the same level as Christians. Ultimately can be quite smart, but ultimately also delusional or at the very least misguided.

With caloric content not exceeded per day of course red meat and pork is a more viable and healthy diet.

if you have to get all your nutrients from tens of different types of food sources you're not going to get your full nutrient requirements as a vegetarian attempts to do.

I remember my biology teacher once said to our class that the most nutrient rich meat to eat that would suffice us would be human meat.

This is since it already contains the nutritional requirements we need.

think about that for a second and ponder as to why we cannot digest cellulose like a cow.

There is a reason why the meat eating apes survived over the vegetarian ones and thus our lineage was formed.

BBQ sauce just dosent go with things like it does with a slaughtered and carved animal.

Honestly how is it not murder for an animal to kill another animal in the name of food? Oh wait some of the Vegans are actually dumb enough to hop in and try to stop it before it happens.

Make sure to give me advance notice if you ever do plan to take power in Croatia, i will do a takeover of power here, then we can work out the quarrels between our two countries like any two respectable civilised dictators would...over a good pint of beer in a pub (with one eye on a football match preferably) not like these aholes on both sides do now when nothing gets done :p

My paper was about the different justifications for meat eaters. I did actually use some of the information from this thread (like the fact that most people take an anthropocentric/egocentric standpoint).

I am happy with my mark :)
