I only eat meat if I know the animal suffered. So I guess it's a sexual thing. |

Looks like you want to get your homework done here. |
Ding ding ding.
Actually, I am writing a paper on the topic and I have already pretty much finished my thesis, but I was curious to know what people had to say. TA is a pretty diverse sampling and I thought it might help me see something I am missing, or perhaps fortify my own argument.
For those of you who think I have some type of underlying vegan motive, I am a meat eater myself, so no.
Also, totally off topic, but I have long hair now... Yes, I looked like a boy, but I shaved my head to donate the hair for cancer, so way to make yourself look like an ass :)
Can those of you who have made actual responses elaborate? |

| It's delicious and my dad owns a butcher shop. I try not to eat it everyday though. |

As I said, it depends entirely on the moral assumptions of the person I'm arguing with. People think eating meat is immoral for several different reasons. The main distinction is whether it's about pain and suffering or simply taking lives. After that it's about how they quantify the value of life, and so on.
What my argument comes down to is that it's impossible to avoid killing animals to survive. As such, vegetarianism is essentially an exercise in futility. |

If you needed to justify why you eat animals, how would you do it?
I am interested to know if people would use religion to back it up, or if there is a different reason (evolutionary/scientific etc.)
Unique answers are appreciated and please don't be afraid to admit if it's because of religion. If it is, please clarify (specific scriptures etc.) |
i dont understand what religion would have to do with anything. but i eat meat because it tastes nice, it is edible, and i really dont have any reason not to eat it |

In other words, are you trying to say that there isn't enough non-meat food supplies to feed the entire planet? That in order to survive we must eat meat so as to have enough food to go around?
This isn't an argument to point out why vegans are stupid/wrong/whatever, it's simply "why do you eat meat?" Beyond the 'it tastes good' response, what does it come down to? |
