guess one tradition will continue! colibri saturday for brunch. With the parade, have yet to take advantage of bottomless mimosas, can drink away the pain of no parade this year. |

It's not confirmed, no one should ever share any unconfirmed artists if they hear it from an offcial source (not sure if that makes sense)

This is too bad, as said earlier. The people who witnessed this even in 2008-2009 really were lucky!
But I've been to four of these events, including this first, and it was always a good time!!!
Maybe it will make a come back! |

This would have been my 5th as well, including the 1st.
My hope is that all logisitical issues get worked out, 2011 is a clean slate, and the event is ALL it should be, has been, and more!
Question: Did Germany have a parade/festival at all in 2004 after Berlin lost their permits and it moved to SF or were they left with nothing that year???
Reason I ask is, while we will still have some amazing talent in town, we know how they must have felt that year.
I consider us all very fortunate to have been part of a great run! Things change...and again I sooo hope next year comes back with a freakin' vengence!!! |

There was no Love Parade in Germany in 2004 and 2005, nor in 2009. And the only reason it came back in 2006 is because they got someone to sponsor the event and pay for all the cleanup costs (large part of the reason it had to be cancelled for two years...couldn't pay the 500,000 Euros or whatever it was for cleanup). That sponsor is why everyone who wasn't locked into a contract to use the name "Love Parade" couldn't license it again. That's when LP in SF changed to LoveFest.
BTW, 2006 was the last Love Parade in Berlin. The event has been in different cities in 2008, 2008, and 2010. 2009 was gonna be in another city too in Germany until it was cancelled itself. |

the core organizers have been pushing hard for a green light up to the last minute, some even still holding out hope, but like i said it's pretty much 99% confirmed canceled due to widespread concerns from float organizers about the lack of time remaining to plan out something proper and the poor political climate to really think big. this doesn't mean they aren't still going full steam ahead for 2011 planning. it's just not very feasible at this point to expect a success that carries the same momentum as previous years. the goal for next year is still the same as it was at the beginning of this year, and that is to make things bigger and better, which also applies to location and capacity. |
