due to the nature of the legendary location of the event, it wouldn't be prudent to release details at this point, but listed will send out an email blast soon enough i'm sure. i'll give you a hint it's one of my all-time favorite progressive house acts from the uk ;)

Thanks for the link. That pretty much confirms it: even if they don't cancel the event, there will be no parade in 2010. Bummer.

I hope the parade returns in 2011. Even if the festival is held at a remote location, they should continue with the parade through the heart of the city and then people can just make arrangements to travel to the festival site.

I thought this comment, taken from the article, was interesting: “Why can’t we just extend the boundaries? I cannot think of a better place."

That comment makes a lot of sense. Keep it at the Civic Center and just extend the boundaries. You have that entire Plaza area, which is huge, and was not part of the festival site in 2009. There are probably other ways to extend the boundaries as well.

I personally would rather do what they did in Germany in years that logistically it was impossible...and cancel it. I'd rather it be cancelled and brought back next year or whenever they can in proper fashion rather than possibly completely tainting the entire image of the event by still just trying to throw something wherever they can this year. I am sure their intentions are good either way, but I just think for the image of the event it would just be best to cancel it.

Hell, the Love Parade in Germany had 750,000 in 2003 before it was cancelled for two years...when it came back in 2006, 1.2million. Everyone was so eager for it to come back, every trancehead in Europe made their way there in 2006 jsut because they weren't sure if it was the last one for awhile again....and they crowds just got bigger every year since until this tragic last one.

Reading from the article, it looks like the parade is dead for sure, but it is very much possible that the City will approve the festival at Candlestick park. Where is this 99% canceling coming from?

Organizers should do the right thing...regroup. Let the noise die down. Call it being a victim of its own success, bad press from other events/incidents locally or at other events in the state/other countries. It's like trying to tell Halloween to move itself from the Castro. It just won't work. If it moves....to Candlestick parking lot of all places, it is no longer what it was intended to be - it's something else.

Let the noise die down and let the city gov have their election year, and come back stronger when the time is right.

I say this, assuming organizers can NOT find some other suitable solution.

Rich is the most likely person to know anything about the parade

I would like to see the festival happening, even without the parade. Looking past those lofty ideals like, peace, love, bringing people together, this lovevolution is a chance for edm artists to showcase their talents; a chance to get their music out there be to heard. Fans who care to listen can make choices; it is a chance for them to check out different kinds of music. People who are looking for parties also have the option of not showing up. I am sure hardcore fans will show up regardless of locations.
