One of my dear friends runs UMF. I spoke with him just a few minutes ago and I hope I can give some help.
Basically, from what he told me, UMF and WMC have split. All WMC Events (conference and parties) are being moved to the 8-12 with Ultra standing alone at the end of the month as an independent festival. Believe me when I say he was very angry at this, and it is a very sudden occurrence, though I can't disclose the reasons as to why.
My friend and the others who run UMF are doing their best to accommodate everyone as well as they can (hopefully talking some sense into the WMC people and getting them to alter the dates or move it closer to the original dates), so just hang tight and don't make any drastic plans yet.

When Ultra decided to go to 3 days it would never, ever work with WMC going on at the same time. The big night for the WMC parties is always Thursday.
WMC party promoters make their money off the people who come for the week to party and go to Ultra, who pay to go to these events all week.
About 3700 people get the badge, and over 50k go to ultra, paying full price.
I have been going to WMC with a badge for the last 4 years and spend all of my time in conferences and workshops and it really pays off. Ive talked to Carl Cox, PvD, Armin, blah blah, as if they were working with me and not as if they were a DJ on a pedestal.
WMC is the most magical thing I have been a part of. Ultra is just a showcase.
Last year I was able to play at UMF. The "payment" for that covered my whole trip. I don't know what to do if I am booked for Ultra again, there would need to be 2 trips. |

But Ultra is Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th. |

What? As of yesterday night, the top clubs were saying the big parties are happening during the week of ULTRA, so I find this hard to believe. |

Amber, single day tickets will most likely cost $150 each after fees, just buy the three day pass and sell the remaining two days for around $100 each day, you will end up spending a minimal amount to go to ultra. single day tickets usually go on sale in march and by that time all tickets are expensive |

That is what is definitely going around on the interweb!
The parties that are WMC controlled obviously wont be able to happen during the Ultra week. But since not all the parties that normally happen during the combined week of WMC/Ultra are controlled by WMC as far as I know, it seems good things may come out of this. Maybe newer, better parties during the week of Ultra might have to be made up using the talent that does not plan to come down during the WMC week and only Ultra week.
Either way I have to go during the week of Ultra, already have my vacation time in and hotel booked for Wed-Mon 23-28th.
Now its time to sit back, relax, and wait for all this to pan out. |

Well, what I was told came from one of the director's mouths... so, take it for what it is. He informed me all official WMC parties are happening with the conference and Ultra is standing alone. He didn't comment on the other, non-WMC official parties, so perhaps they are still during the last week?
But at this time UMF is standing alone as an independent festival, not a closer to WMC. |

All in all, March will be a month-long party. |

Well, I just thought I'd help. Some people like the WMC-official parties :p
Like my friend said, though, they are working with the WMC officials and are trying their best to fix this, so nothing is completely set in stone yet. |
