i'm not part of the 6/12 months argument :)
you said djs/promoters should have kept March open until the WMC guys announced.... events around the world doe not hold their breath waiting for the WMC to announced.
the WMC guys should have put up a big calendar and said - okay - these are the best dates.... and looked around to see if other stuff was already planned like SXSW (some minor overlap) or Calle Ocho (100% prevents Ultra from being the same dates)... obviously they didn't.
it seems like more what happened is they couldn't secure a hotel base at all... and the convention center was already booked the last week so they took this particular week....
what's weird about this whole situation is you have an official group (WMC) that controls the dates of which all the unoffical events are based around... and these unofficial events gross millions of $ cumaltively, which is way more than the WMC does itself, which sets the dates.
Basically we have the tail wagging the dog here....
again there is much more to this than just booking djs - you have to book hotels and clubs and flights and involve the police department for Ultra and get permits for Ultra and the pool parties in Miami, etc. its not easy doing all of that stuff assuming its one date and then finding out 3 months and 3 weeks before that you have to throw out your original plans and start from scratch.
I know when my friends would do the Giant Village NYE event here, they would literally start some of the preparation in January.... and they would be booking their headliner djs about 4-5 months ahead of time. |

Haha, I'm glad I picked Ibiza closing parties this year instead of Miami now, this is a joke. Timewarp in April and ADE in October for the win. Enjoy the nightmare.
PS Like how Ultra says that one day ticket costs less than the entrance to a nightclub. Guess they're just using FMIF as an example, I've not paid $90 to get into a club before! |

Time Warp in Manhiem was awesome, I had a blast!!! ADE definitely tops WMC. I've been going for 2years now and will continue to go for sure.But I'm looking forward to what WMC has to offer this time around :toothless |

you forgot to add that Ultra found them venues to hold WMC the same week but WMC didn't accept them. |
