Basically, from what he told me, UMF and WMC have split. All WMC Events (conference and parties) are being moved to the 8-12 with Ultra standing alone at the end of the month as an independent festival. Believe me when I say he was very angry at this, and it is a very sudden occurrence, though I can't disclose the reasons as to why.

My friend and the others who run UMF are doing their best to accommodate everyone as well as they can (hopefully talking some sense into the WMC people and getting them to alter the dates or move it closer to the original dates), so just hang tight and don't make any drastic plans yet.

I hope this helps.

i know this may be asking a bit much but could you, from your friend, please get an explanation as to why early bird ultra tickets were sold out before any official announcement of them even going on sale was sent out? i mean them selling out yesterday and getting an email that they were on sale this morning is just plain crap. i just find it hard to believe that even ultra would stoop that low. i mean its happening and we'll probably never get an explanation because people are already buying the full price tickets so why would they lower the price now? but an explanation would be nice.

Hopefully parties will be announced earlier to either promote people to go early March or late March!

I am seeing this is almost a good thing now, I was mad at first since being newbie I figured WMC brings in most parties during the week and then Ultra is usually at the end of that = makes everyone happy....

Definitely going to be a wacky 3+ months.

I personally think its a marketing technique to make people buy tickets ASAP before the "next tier of cheap tickets" sells out.

Ever notice how often a sold out event magically finds another few hundred tickets at the last minute for full price?

Its not real.

Just you wait until you get to my condo. I'm going to beat your ass with a hot grill spatula and make you scream 'AY MAMI!'

wrong. the only way in which this is the slightest good is for those of us who live in miami and can attend parties during both weeks. in every other way this completely blows.

this isnt a marketing technique. you're giving the organizers way too much credit here. this is planning at its worst and you can tell everything went to and no one knew what to do and what we see is the result of someone saying " it" and giving the go ahead.

although i'll give you that does happen, but i dont think its thats whats happening here.

AGREED!!

I, as well as MANY others, would like to know that too.

Technically they were only officially on sale for ~6 hours. Which is really messed up. But as you said, there's just about 0% chance of them going back to that price.

I just want to know how many tickets were actually sold at the early bird price.

In the last couple years early bird tickets have been a set amount. Usually a couple hundred. And they have not lasted 24 hrs in the last couple of years

They do it on purpose though, and now it's either buy the limited advance tickets or pay even higher
trancension
Early bird tickets lasted longer than a day this year, you kidding me? They didn't last as long as in '07/'08, but they did last a good length of time. Definitely for a week at least.

Well I have to choose Ultra regardless, I have too... cant go the other time. Its either that or dont go and go somewhere else not Miami related at all.

So hopefully some decent parties will happen Wed. and Thur. and during Fri and Sat. nights somehow.

If ANYONE has any insight/info on the Shelbourne and what it is THEIR plans are, can you PLEASE find out. I know that in the past their parties have been WMC affiliated and you get in free w/the badge, but I'm HOPING that they follow suit and go w/UMF week as some of my favorite parties were there (OVUM Records on Wed and Sander K on Sun  ). Unfortunately, most of the people that played there during WMC last year DID NOT play at Ultra, so I could possibly see it going the other way :/. So PLEASE, if you know someone who might know, can you find out for us?? Thanks!
