You forget Victor Hotel, W, Ice Palace, Electric Pickle, etc just to name a few...they'll stick by WMC and book parties in our favor with talent in our favor...unless you want to see DeadMau5 and Guetta, no one gives a crap if Mansion has a gay night instead of F*ck Me I'm Famous...aren't they really one in the same anyway? lol

So why didn't WMC people tell the clubs, hotels, djs and promoters that they were doing a diff date. That's why all the djs are pissed.....can't switch at this point. Sure looks like WMC ed up.

you didn't reply to my post above asking what Ultra should have done in this case...

i could care less if there is an Ultra or not... i've never been... and wouldn't miss it if it didn't exist (disclaimer: I would have gone this year on Sat if tix weren't sold out)... if Ultra can't throw their party the dates the official WMC event is to be, what are they supposed to do?

i'm saying from a business and professional standpoint, the WMC guys blew it big time by waiting so late to announce this. of course they have the right to move it.... its just bad business - WMC week has at least 40,000 people in town spending tens of millions of $... people, clubs, djs, agents, sound companies, police, etc. have to plan for that and waiting until less than 4 months before the event is inexcuseable. I cannot think of any other major event (music or non-music) like this that has waited so late to announce their dates....

P.L.U.R. baby! Lol

I agree 100% with Ammora. Ultra made this mess. They broke their contract with WMC.

WMC isn't obligated to announce their dates a year in advance to you people. 4-5 months ahead of schedule is the norm and is plenty of warning.

its actually less than 4 months... for a small conference i'd agree with you... but not with something this has grown to such a huge size with tens of millions of $ being spent.

why is WMC early March? because the WMC people waited too late to book the end of March at the MB convention center and now its booked by a large art fair. Why can't Ultra be in early March? because of Calle Ocho the same weekend in downtown Miami. if those 2 other events set aside their weeks way early of course the WMC people could have.

Cambodian hipsters, all of you.

Ultra had to defend themselves at some point.

they told "no one"?? are you and the rest of the general public generally informed of decisions like this prior to the announcements? In years past, WMC announces dates THEN Ultra releases dates and ticket information---see the difference this year? Ultra announced dates PRIOR to WMC (broke contract) THEN starts selling tickets immediately as the backlash of WMC dates is announced (broke contract AGAIN).
Regardless of how you feel about it personally, it doesn't change the fact that Ultra bucked the system and went ahead in violation of the contracts already in place...and they pulled a shady move on fans/consumers by releasing a small quantity of early-bird tickets the other night that would immediately sell out (assuming there were only a handfull in que to sell, so it creates this big ALLURE that Ultra isn't the bad guy and its this super popular amazing event that everyone should rally around b/c who the hell goes to WMC anyway?)

please use your brain...PLEASE.

btw, the Ultra PR release refutes 100% of your speculative post here...

You can't be serious. WMC is a small event that can be held whenever at whatever venue. Ultra is a huge festival with 1 spot and must book 300 djs 6+ months in advance. Are you telling me Ultra is more flexible than WMC? WMC appears to be run by morons who dropped the ball.

gotta love how ULTRA's statement says how they book artists exclusively to make the experience more valuable. :(

I hope they don't book Daft Punk, that way I won't be feeling horrible about not going.
