obviously you didn't read Ultra press release...
here's the cliff notes version:
1) WMC says dates are Mar 8-12
2) Ultra says can't do that - Calle Ocho is same weekend
3) WMC says we can't move to another weekend
4) Ultra says we can't do it Mar 8-12 so we are going to keep the original weekend
basically what you are saying Ammora is that Ultra should cancel their event because they are only allowed to do it during the official WMC week. If its impossible for Ultra to do so due to a prior conflict that the WMC people neglected to think about, that's 100% on WMC. I guess you could argue that the are not supposed to do it outside of WMC week - they don't want to but left with no other option besides cancelling, what are they to do. You have yet to provide an answer as to how Ultra could have done anything besides what they have done.
Also, they said presales were up 5,000% over last year so it was not a small sale designed to increase interest... they did great business yesterday... obviously selling all tix earlier this year has created a demand earlier that in past years... |

Actually that not what I'm saying.
Forgive me for being a firm believer in doing what's right. When you enter into a contract, you stick by the terms of that contract or suffer consequences.
This is a moot point at any rate...arguing with you is like arguing with a blind, deaf elephant in a swimming pool...
believe the stories you wish to believe. at the end of the day, support the DJs, have a good time, but don't be naive to the greed and total lack of judgement from the baby organization, Ultra, that jumped the gun and caused a lot of people financial and reputation loss. |

Like I said, the random event here and there gets booked ~6 months out. A year out though? Exaggerate to prove a point much? I'm sure some DJs circle dates that coincide with special events (Ultra/Trance Energy/etc.) a year out, but they don't get officially booked until much closer to the date in time.
DJs and promoters should have kept their March open until they heard something official if they wanted to do WMC, bottom line. Or maybe by Late November-Early December they could have started making their March plans if they hadn't heard anything from WMC yet. Because 3-4 months is very normal to start making plans. 6 months...very rare. 12 months...lol. |

| Anyways...this thread is going nowhere fast. Arguing about when DJs get booked...I need to find something better to do with my down time. |

at least i agree with Ammora on one thing - we both are sure we are right so no point in continuing to argue there :D
as to how far djs get booked - these djs/artist cannot play the official dates due to already being booked for a festival in australia:

Just judging from the press releases it would seem WMC ed up big time here. They know how massive UMF has become ~ and to not consider the prep time it takes to organize such a festival and expect Ultra to just "honor a contract" after being given to turn into gold is ing stupid. From what I have read it went like this ~
WMC - "Oh hi Ultra, we've changed weeks so yeah.. better get on that"
Ultra - "Ummm... ok"
*time passes*
Ultra - "So like.. there's a million people coming for this other .. kinda not working here."
WMC - "LOL TOO BAD CONTRACT< KK"
Ultra - "Sigh..."
More facts will come out soon hopefully ~ this all rather humorous though. |

There is a hole in Sven Vath's 2011 calendar right on the Ultra week. I'm praying he comes here. Would kill a bum to see him on the Space Terrace. |

Good choice, went to Ibiza twice this summer and had an incredible time on both trips. Was looking forward to going back to miami in march but not sure now, guess we'll have to wait till the schedules come out |

I'm confused, are you actually going to prove they were booked a year in advance?
Because we've already established tons of DJs are already booked for early March.
Beat a dead horse more? |
