oh and btw, a large european festival already did come to Miami and try to compete with Ultra. Don't you remember Global Gathering 2006? Yeah, that went over well.... lawl.
Funny, because I remember seeing Neil Moffit walking down Lincoln with this body guards that year, he didn't look pleased. |

Both Ultra and WMC have admitted to signing a contract back in 2009 to hold the next 3 Ultra/WMC weeks together (2010, 2011, 2012). Why are you acting like it's a "magical" contract when everyone knows about it...
It'll be interesting to find out the fine print of the contract though. I'm sure there is some sort of stipulation on Ultra's side about whether or not they take penalty if they cannot get a suitable venue like Bicentennial the week in question. |

WMC IS OVER! I'm not going this year unless WMC moves it's dates back.
I haven't seen any evidence that any dj, producer, or promoter plans to hold any sort of party early March. Even if a few decide WMC over the end of March.... I don't care anymore.
Here in Toronto, as in Miami, we always get a few big names here every weekend. I go to WMC to soak up as many as I can in a small amount of time, and enjoy all the music lovers. This year won't have that feeling.
Congrats both WMC & Ultra for not working together!

I don't know if either the WMC or the UMF really are either at fault. The situation is a result of them both trying to do their own thing and not try to work something out, and as a result, you have the current mess.
Its a shame, as I was finally going to try and make the trip out for both, but it appears I will not be able to do so... |

So that facts are:
1 Calle Ocho is going on same wknd as WMC, Ammora seems to miss this.
2 Winter Fest is going on same time as WMC, Ammora seems to miss this.
3 WMC has been the same week for at least the past 4 years, Again.
WMC messed up and they will pay the price. I am going to Miami for electronic music so I will be going last weekend. I am not going to Miami for gay pride or latino pride. If I was going for either of the last two I would go the second week. |

This is what's happening. A lot of newcomers are not stating opinions based on what's happened in the past.
WMC and Gay fest or whatever HAVE crossed paths in the past, and no one even noticed. The CALLE OCHO stuff happens exactly where the name says it. At Calle Ocho ! Calle Ocho has NO direct effect on Downtown Miami for what I'm aware.The City of Miami are just crying claiming they have no resources to cover both events with police etc.. yea alright :rolleyes: that's just plain excuse to me. (there are enough! They just want more "mula" for it.
To your third point, TRUE. But that doesn't mean anything, and it shouldn't. Art Basel. Car auto shows, even calle don't all happen on the same weeks year in year out so. Ok. :gsmile:
There have been massive events in the past that have crossed paths with WMC and there was never a problem with it. City of Miami should learn from the City of Miami Beach on this. |

i find it hilarious how so many people are defending ultra. like yea i get that maybe they shouldnt be expected to just up and change their dates at the last minute but you have to be a retard to think that ultra isnt a piece of crap. we've all been complaining about it for years. the ticket prices, the retarded kids that go there, the lackluster sets, and without a doubt the single worst thing to ever happen to wmc, the exclusive bull.
so why are so many of you defending this when this is actually a chance (yea i know its only a small one) to get rid of this festival and all its crap for good.
i mean personally all this is going to work out better for me because it looks like maybe i'll get a chance to party both weeks, but im not so retarded to think that in the long run this will be a good thing. as already mentioned, this is not really good for anyone involved (except maybe ultra cuz they are getting their way). but when so many of us skip ultra because it sucks to begin with why are so many of you sitting here and defending it? it just boggles my mind. |

So by "their" stage set up, you mean they used the same local staging/sound company in Miami? What a shocker.
...and if it was better than Ultra why hasn't it come back?

Ultra is what you make of it. If you have a negative personality and negative outlook on it than yeah it'll suck. I've personally lived in 4 different countries, traveled to many more. ULTRA was one of the best experiences I've ever witnessed. I've been djing for 11 years, probably played at some of your favorite clubs, going to shows even longer. my routes are so cal, been to all the massives (I'm not bragging just validating my opinion)... When I went to Ultra I met MANY wonderful people from all over the world. I was mostly in the Ibiza tent and I didn't run into any dumb ass kids as I would at an edc or monster massive. I dont care about getting a little dirty to see an artist I have yet to see or someone I have seen and KNOW they'll tear up. I think an edc is dirtier than an ultra, or monster massive is dirtier than an ultra. After an edc or monster massive or nocturnal or even a TAO all my is dirty, gunk all over the floor, after ultra my shoes may be dirty but for Swedish House Mafia I'll do anything. It seems most people complaining about Ultra are just finding reasons to complain about it. As far as price, save... Ever heard of the rate of inflation? I was pissed when I missed out on the first batch but oh well. If I am spending over a thousand dollars to get there whats an extra hundred bucks? To call someone a dumbass for complementing a gathering of the Worlds most elite artists dumb, well I think it's clearly a biased opinion that holds no valditity.
I hate douche bags but I still have to go to the store to buy groceries. I defend the music of ULTRA but don't have any standings with the people who throw it. |
