Listen people the new generation is attracted to more POP like trance. it is what it is you can hate it but you can't stop it.
and for the guy who posted oh he only played in nyc 3 times last year. (brooklyn is part of nyc) even if its underground scene or not.
All thanks to artists like dash, ferry that trance is getting more of its name and people can go back into history by taking the interests in the genre. rather you like it or not time moves on and people want to hear different stuff.
stop calling it garbage and just try to listen to it.
house/dubstep/trance/hardstyle are all beautiful in its own way. (even though i dislike hardstyle)

thats all i had to say.

and like u guys call dash garbage, I disliked alyflia and the "OTHER DUDE" john.

who cares if u play 128bpm 132bpm 200bpm 10294301294bpm. it doesn't matter.

as long as ppl like it and dj/producers put their heart into it, its beautiful in its own way.

I have listened to it. I went to show after show as the tides were turning and heard trance change to commercial cheese. So yes I can say, its garbage. I used to like Dash Berlin productions, was happy to hear he(they) were finally moving into the US market. And then it went to .

You think all these djs are putting their hearts into it? Dash is literally a money making machine.. two ghostriders and a pretty face to represent them. You think Armin produces his own tracks anymore? You think any of them do? All the big commercial guys have ghostwriters. Open your eyes.. there is no heart its just about making the most popular, easy to swallow song for the masses.

Edit: I really do think Markus produces his own and carefully manages his label and his artists but thats about it...one of the reasons i still respect him.

Has anyone seen MORPH live?
I know he was at Roseland for ASOT450 but I don't remember much from his set (lol). He's made 2 of my top 20 favorite trance tracks of all time probably - An Angel's Love and Walk the Edge, but has he recently begun catering to the neon-wearing plur kids that have been ruining the scene in the past few years?

It seems like Alex may be our only hope for this event. I was really hoping JOC, Heatbeat, Solarstone or Rank 1 would be there.

Interesting, there are a ton of vocal tracks that are great listening to, but they're not always the best songs to dance to...

I bet that Armin's set will be worse than it was on NYE because at least then, we had Afrojack and Sander van Doorn at different NYC parties to attract the house/dubstep/cheese fans away.

I wouldn't even call this marketing any more. This is more akin to propaganda. Ask yourself a couple questions. Do you really think that out of all the trance dj's out there only a select few are the cream of the crop? and usually all Armada artists? or the fact that most of the amazing artists play the same set or at least very similar for months on end?

Open your eyes little sheep, if you start believing everything everyone tells me your headed down the wrong road in life.

Exactly. Labels like Armada have watered down the sound of what trance used to be and what you have now is the poppy, trancey-house sound. Some people find it easier to listen to. I think it loses its emotion and soul, which is what trance is supposed to embody.

No unfortunately we cannot. However when you almost completely abandon what trance used to represent and change it's sounds almost entirely, or infuse other musical genre's into it, can you legitimately call it trance? Or is it just because those who everyone holds musically holy deem it so they all follow it?

I'm well aware of that. I don't need a geography lesson from someone who apparently doesn't know how to write basic English with proper grammar.

Since you know ECO did 273874283 gigs, can you name me at least five of them last year? I sure as hell can't.

1. EZ Day 2
2. Brooklyn Party w/ Kyau & Albert (Oct/Nov-ish)
3. EDC NYC maybe?
4. ?
5. ?

Sorry but Dash Berlin was formed in 2007-2008, not much history there to look back on. I don't see anyone who listens to his stuff trying to look back on the older classics that came before they were in the scene.

Also, I'm willing to bet that a vast majority of people who have started listening to Ferry in the last couple years have no clue he produced some of trance music's classics under the alias' System F, Gouryella, etc. His newer stuff (WKND, OUAT Vol. 3) is pretty much all progressive house and sounds nothing like the old trance he used to produce.

I've tried. Most of it is boring, watered down, and lifeless... in my opinion.

People will listen to what they like. I'm not denying that. It's just some of us have been listening to it for so long now that we feel the quality of the tracks produced, from a musical (not necessary technical) standpoint has lapsed.

Didn't you call "the other dude John" mainstream? If he's so mainstream, how do you not even know his name? :conf:

No one mentioned anything about BPM. Personally I think trance can survive in a wide variety of BPMs and doesn't need to be relegated to 136+.

Anyway, I'm done now. Enjoy your new-age trance sound because like you said, it's probably not going anywhere for a long time. Money-pits like ASOT, EDC, and Electric Zoo are going to be built to get people like you to spend money on them. At this point I'm happy with sticking to my smaller shows and spending a lot less more for a lot better quality sets and music.

tl;dr (as requested earlier) :)

I saw him last year with Max Graham at Pachita. It was a decent set, nothing crazy. He got up there in BPM, but I believe he played a large amount of vocals too (Sylvia sang one or two of their songs live).

I honestly enjoyed Max's set a lot more. MORPH is a cool guy though, from hanging around with him and Max the day after on the rooftop.

You think MORPH will open up with Imperial March? That always gives me the goosebumps.
