it's the cameras fault, i only paid $500 for it, the $2000 camera takes MUCH BETTER pictures guaranteed! |

This might be my favorite tweet I've read thus far with the #ASOT600NYC attached:

wow, thread blew up too, about 50+ posts more than this morning.
Rambling ( ;) ) review of all just read:
TimeWarp vs. DenBosh, of course differnt music, but the former's offering in-toto outweighs the latter.
And, why is that not a real line-up?
The announced line-up is on their site.
Sure you can't do it all, with only 18h for the multiple stages, but what festival isn't that way?
The MSG gripes:
like no one knew this?
Especially you guys who post here?
Most of these complaints were already discussed way back in this thread as speculations (the comparisons to other events, the fact of only half-floor pit, etc).
The tweets are even funnier:
of course they don't make you SIT at this event, but they will make you STAY in that spot.
"Clear the aisles".
As to that half-pit:
This is actually an improvement over the past.
Most of the shows I've been to at MSG didn't even have any pit, in fact it was pretty much banned everywhere on the East Coast for a long long time.
At the good events, you used to be able to at least sneak into the front of the seated floor, and then just squeeze into a row, and aisle-dance every so often.
(even as late as just beforethe MSG rehab, it was totally easy to at least get in front of the sound-board, the areas right behind the middle-fence. Watched more now though)
SO, for the lucky few that do get pit, better, but don't even try jumping in there these days.
(and at least they don't have uniformed cops doing security anymore either)
When I saw the $143+ for all of Tier 1, that was about the funniest part: gold for .
Finally, about someones A-P musings:
yeah, SHM did that too.
they repeated much of their MSG set at Roseland INCLUDING that really annoying and stupid: "lets try something new, sit down..." childish bull
Sold out? not a surprise, and while I hope the scalpers take a bath, they probably won't.
Seeing as SHM officially sold out MSG 1x and Barclay's 3x no wonder.
They at least had the good graces to pop the last two days just a bit into the official sale, that made some room for actually getting something.
Fessing up: pit tickets on 3/4, LOL! |

Granted, there is a difference between lets say Rebel vs D series, thatsa why I went from Rebel XT to 40D, cause I was able to fully utilize the differences
But
anybody that uses 1Dx as an argument/reference is Ignorant. I have never met a photographer that bought (with his money) $6K+ body to use for club shooting. 1Dx is mostly used by major newspapers/magazines etc, cause its ING expensive. |

I just used it as a comparison from both extremes, since Rebel is the lowest and 1DX is the highest.
If you're trying to say any Rebel model can properly shoot a night time event you're clueless. Yeah, you can get some noisy group shots and some light trails, but anything that is actually worth someone getting paid to use, isn't getting shot with a Rebel type body in a night time event. The lowest camera body anyone should touch when shooting night time events is a 5D if shooting Canon at least.

Price does matter when shooting night time events you stupid . Night time is all about ISO performance, and the number 1 factor in price increase in camera bodies is ISO performance. You clearly know absolutely nothing about photography. Rebel's are great cameras, but they SUCK at night time. No technique, fancy lenses, post processing, etc, can make up for the ty low light performance of entry level DSLR's. This is a fact. |

| iLLiE586that is like saying "if you do not use themost expensive dj equipment, you can not good". Really make no sense. Just because you have the best stuff, or it is rated the best, does not mean that the person controlling the device/object (camera in this case) does not know how to use it in and out. |

Oh wait hold on, I also took this with my 40D tamron 17-50
No Flash, pic taken at night. Yeah, it has noise but its acceptable with such high iso

Hand held

JD, no flash

PIc of liebing in Balls Dark Pacha, no flash, high ISO etc

Just by looking at those I can tell you're sacrificing shutter speed for a lower ISO, and they're all still noisy as hell. Something you cannot do while shooting fast moving objects like lasers. It is clearly obvious in the first picture, as nothing looks properly focused(which is understandable with the shutter speed you used from the trails), and the third one is about as noisy as it gets.
40D is much better than Rebel though, and it isn't priced much lower than a 5D. It would be silly to not spend a little more for a full frame sensor and the ISO performance of the 5D, even if it is refurbished.

Umm, no, not even close dude. When it comes to noise performance, the bigger the price the better the performance WITH NOISE. Anyone with half a brain regarding photography knows this. They are all great camera capable of taking great pictures, but if you're getting paid to walk around and provide people with noise filled photos, then you need to gtfo. |

What a terrible venue MSG is for this event.
NO $40 seats and dancing floor seem to be big enough for 40-50 people tops? |

and here I always thought that the measure of true low-light level photography were the optics, the max. aperture of the lens used.
Now that we no longer have film, the "speed" has moved into the camera, but a faster value is only a crutch to overcome lowish glass.
Don't think that's changed fundatmentally.
With really good glass, 1.0 aps or maybe 1.2 (yeah, dough of course), you don't even need 400.
SebG:
what is that pic 2nd from bottom (the red-light booth one)?
P?
if so, it looks like the booth is 3 stories up!
never having had the vantage, just the opposite view only ever... |
