hahaha an audiobook is it recording with stephen hawkings computer voice?
tathi
heheh, that's what originally piqued my interest into downloading the audiobook, but its Dr Carl Sagan narrating it unfortunately :p Still a really good series, some of the concepts do your head in like the Human Perception of Time and the effect a Black Hole has on Time :eyespop:
Philby
i hated that , and special relativity, lectures about one person flying somewhere on a rocket and leaving their twin back on earth, coming back to find their twin 10 years older
Teflon_Teapot
hahaha yeah it does your head in, the fact that space is non-euclidean is crazy
pkcRAISTLIN
hehe, thanks for the offer tathi but i doubt an audiobook would help me grasp any of the concepts i couldnt when i read (tried) the book myself.

he has such a charm & wit about him but trying to explain that kindve science to me is about as worthwhile as me lecturing an inflatable camel about uplifting trance ;)

but, since this is the hate thread, i hate the fact im not bright enough to understand the only thing about science i find interesting.

black holes are the coolest thing in the universe imo.

^ reminds me of how much i hated Physics class in highschool, i joined thinking i'd learn about the fascinating concepts previously mntioned but it turned out to be this bull boring mathematical equations to do with levers and pulleys. dropped the subject and picked up network engineering, which was interesting at hte time but i doubt i could stomach any study to do with computers now :p

yeah part of the problem with learning about some of the interesting topics in physics is that you have to learn the maths and physics behind them which can take years of doing boring stuff.
narcism
