Man, I got done in 2005. I blew 0.12! Lost my license for 12 months, had to do a drink driver course, attend court and fined $500+
Don't EVER do what I did people, not only is it stupid, irresponsible and can end or ruin your life but the cost of everything that goes into the penalty makes it not worth even thinking about!
The d/driver course taught me you can never predict your Blood Alcohol Level going on 'standard drinks' per hour. It doesn't matter whether you 'feel' fine because it's not about being or feeling 'drunk'. It's the alcohol that's absorbed into your bloodstream. It's completely unpredictable and effect all people differently. Body size has a lot to do with it. Given that your not an entirely large person Jed you probably absorbed the alcohol quicker than someone much larger than you.
It's what happened with that man. Its trap many people fall into by believing that one drink an hour will keep you under .05. It simply isn't true!! |

I only got my Ps last year (cos im slack). Anyway, I blew .06 at the start of the year and since I was meant to have .00 I lost my licence. Didn't have my P plates up either.
BUT, I appealed it. So I kept my licence till i my hearing. At the hearing, I just had to show that I've held a job down for ages (letter from employer) and that It would hurt my career without a licence (Fieldwork for Uni, letter from supervisor). Also of course, not looking like a bogan and that it was only a once off was important! (but hard, i am a bogan!)
So I got my licence back.
I did have to attend a driver intervention course, which was a load of bull anyway, and ive got 2.5 years left on my Ps :(
Oh, and the intial $500 fine. |
