One day before the biggest rivalry in any sports is set to land. Who will come out victorious, who will root for which team, lets side them up boys for one of the greatest battles in all sports.
Pick your team and root for them! Discuss game highlights, strategies, anything related to this series you wish!
Selling tickets? Post'em, dont scam craigslist, help TA's out who would be interested in joining the madness at the stadiums. I'm sure if anyone has tickets and are willing to sell'em someone on here (I got first dibs!) is willing to buy'em.
So what does it look like???
Schilling vs Mussina
Pedro vs Lieber
Arroyo vs Brown
2 in New York
3 in Boston
2 in New York
Predictions, outcomes, cmon I know you all will be glued to your TVs, probably even Shamez!!! haha
My prediction: New York in 7 (its going the distance! not to mention how much money a 7 game ALCS Yanks vs Sox would bring in) |

Of course I will be. I've watched nearly every postseason game so far. And I wouldn't miss seeing the Red Sox celebrating on the field at Yankee Stadium for anything. :wtf:
Okay, but seriously. Let's try and figure this out. Assume a 7 game series.
Schilling v. Mussina
3 times. I'd assume Schilling takes 2 of those 3. He's the biggest big game pitcher in baseball and he fairs pretty well against the Yankees.
Bo Sox 2 - Yankees 1.
Pedro v. Lieber
2 times. While I think that Pedro will be Pedro and be the Yankees daddy, the past has shown me other wise. I'll say they split.
Bo Sox 3 - Yankees 2.
Wakefield (not Arroyo) v. Brown
2 times. This really could go either way. But because Wakefield has completely owned the Yankees in the past, I'll give it a split again.
Bo Sox 4 - Yankees 3.
 Red Sox in 7. Also, it's not known whether or not you'll have Mariano or not. While he's not superman against the Red Sox like he is against every other team, that's still one less quality arm in an already bad bullpen. Should be a very interesting series. |

| depends on schilling's ankle...dunno how that will affect him with his pitching |

Rivera is there, don't get your hopes up....just check ESPN now. He's a big key in this series... apologies to Foulke but he just isn't Sandman.
Francona said he wasn't going to use Schilling 3 times but you never know if they get down in the series how things change. I don't think he can throw up 8-9 innings against this patient Yankee squad (and his ankle/age) and be the main deciding factor like people think so. I think 1/2 games is more like it.
Sheffield + A Rod changes things with Wakefield in my opinion. I like the Yanks chances now against him.
I think El Duque will come back to pitch one solid game and Kevin Brown will make everyone forget what a freaking idiot he is adding up to 2 more Yankee wins. Add in 1/2 against Pedro that makes 4 to New York.
So... Yanks in 7. A Rod will hit a 470 ft bomb to dead center to win it in game 7 and finally earn his 25 million.
Yanks will end up losing to St. Louis in 6 games..... |

| Every yankee is swinging their bats great. Its baseball in the fall and the yankees never disappoint! The pitching match is without a doubt sided to boston. The only counter the yankees have for that is their hitting streak. As for bosox hitting, still suspect if you ask me. Now don't get me wrong, bosox hitting is fair, just in my eyes not enough to produce the amount of runs necessary to bury the yanks. My prediction for all games is a high scoring game with pitchers becoming heros and pitchers losing their integrity. Schilling is old, pedro has no cards to throw at the yanks, and wakefield has proven his affectiveness against us but I doubt he'll be a deciding factor. |

Schilling is old but hes been pitching like he's 10 years younger.Pedro was hitting 96 on the radar gun against the angels so I think he saved all his power for the playoffs this year. |

Wakefield has a 2.82 ERA, .202 Opponents Batting Average in 13 games against the Yankees over the past 3 years.
Schilling had one terrible game against the Yankees and two great ones.
Pedro hasn't faired as well. But he is capable of pitching a gem at anytime.
Mussina has been decent against the Bo Sox. 3.50 ERA this year.
Lieber has a 4.19 in 3 starts against the Sox this year.
Brown = 5.93. But take away that ty last start and he's got about a 3.50 era against them.
It really is a complete toss up.
As for Rodriguez and Sheffield making a difference against Wakefield, Sheffield batted .250 against him this year, while Alex Rodriguez batted .225 this year. Jeter hits him best with a .333 avg, while Bernie has a .386 OBP against him.
As for Mussina, David Ortiz batted .069 against him this year. Hahaha! That's terrible. Manny batted .203, but the hits he did get tended to be of the extra-base variety.
So basically, Yankee fans can make arguments for the Yankees and Red Sox fans can make arguments for the Red Sox. But I'll tell you one thing, if the Sox don't win this year, they will NEVER win. And a small side note, I'm predicting Orlando Cabrera to have a mega series. |
