| Jayx1, from someone who's completely neutral on this issue, what you're saying and the way you're saying it makes me side with the other Jay. He presents his arguments in a courteous, but direct manner, and you sound like a raving conspiracy theorist. My 2 cents. If it's any worth, I was on your side at the beginning of the thread, but when your integrity started to get weakened by opposing accounts from people who were there, it just makes everything else you say that much more unbelievable. Trust is a valuable thing to lose. |

| Wow. This is seriously out of control here. Jay is obviously trying to share a situation with everybody here from his own perspective and from what I have witnessed, has mostly been attacked for sharing that account. You don't agree with his points? Great. How about backing up your stories with facts and drop the bull attacks? Yes. I have been to Republik and I know that from the back of the main room, even from the perspective of the stage, you cannot clearly see into the front of the VIP lounge. So, it is false to claim that from the vantage point of the main floor, especially when people were told to get on the ground, that you could clearly see and hear what was happening. That story does not entail. Also, from the perspective of the back of the main room, it is not possible to see police entering the premises. If the crowd wasn't in your way, the dividing wall by the coat check would have been. Due to the nature of the replies on this thread, it is obvious that many people don't have anything intelligent to offer. I started this to bring awareness and insight and now this thread should be closed due to a lack of the same. |

Look EVERY ing club/ every bar is in danger of being pushed out of the city. If the owners care about their business, if the patrons care about their space, then they will get together and organize a protest. Set something up, alert the media( The Toronto Star is really sympathic to the whole situation and they actually have written a special report), get everybody invovled and hold a big protest. Your public space is being threatened by the police and the mayor and few city counselors like Adam Vaughan.
Do something~ |

You have a point. Take action if you really want to see results.
Now, I'm no big supporter of Adam Vaughan, but to his defence (not that he needs any) he has pretty good 1st hand knowledge of the club district, as he lived there for quite a # of years before he himself saw it grow exponentially and at a disproportionate rate. Many of you who claim to fight or care what happens to the city don't even live or were born in this city and in all honesty.. it doesn't affect your life (aside from your club life) in any way. I hate it when 905ers and GTA'ers ramble as if they really care...when at the end of the day..they drive home in their gas guzzling vehicles away to the safety of their picture perfect sprawling communities. |

Yep, and running into the club and manhandling patrons by stepping on their chests (almost necks) is just plain brutality. IF, and IF only that actually happened. |
