The police came down on that place immediately since tensions were still high in the area. I followed police orders immediately ('get out of the way!'), and yet they still decided to play human pinball with me by ways of pushing and kicking me back and forth between officers, even though I was following their orders & walking away, and had nothing to do with it. Not to mention, I was a 20 yr old girl. Observers were screaming at the cops to leave me alone from across the street.

So just because you follow their orders doesn't mean that's good enough for them. My 2 cents.

Bottom line, power trips often come into play. I'm not surprised.

i'm sure it happens quite often and that many authority figures do abuse their power! However, we do not know the extent of the situation, and I will believe that the authorities used reasonable force measures, unless it is proven that excess force was used. We don't know the extent of the situation and it may have been a lot worse/better than what we are hearing.

Until there is some more information or evidence, I think its pretty hard to make judgment already.

Im sure those people who experienced this first hand who were innocent of any wrong doing will have serious issues trusting Police in the future.

An example of my point.

I agree but what you said about not responding fast enough doesn't make sense in what I was talking about. If I DID respond IMMEDIATELY and layed down as SOON as the cop came in the room and the cop stepped on my chest, neck after that and I wasn't doing anything how is that NOT excessive?

So you were there at this place? And you were stepped on?

If you feel something was excessive, file a complain.

Like the Chilean football fans did. There was a pretty big investigation into that.

I am the first to admit that I would probably get myself into trouble in a situation like this.

I can't hide my emotions on my face and I think the amount of eye rolling and lipping off I would be doing would get me a boot in the neck.

Just saying that I know this and I wouldn't expect things not to happen.

And yeah, cops are on a power trip, but really, lets go back and see how many people have been shot or stabbed in clubland in the past year. It's dangerous out there!

It is, all I'm saying is excessive force isn't always necessary. I'd file a complaint for sure if that had happened to me.

Yeah, I think we should wait for the complaints to actually come in, we don't know what happened.

So why aren't you arguing "specifically" with KKEFKA as well? He couldn't see the entirety of the VIP from where was standing and certainly wasn't in that room when things went down (no offense KKEFKA). It's obvious that you have a personal issue with Jay. This was my first TA thread, and already, your feelings for the guy are quite transparent.

because I left the office and went home before he started posting?

What are you rolling eyes at - the fact that I have a life outside of this thread?

Carry on.

At the risk of more personal attacks ive come back to post this as i feel its important for people to realize what exactly is going on here:

From Ricardo, a promoter for the club:
quote:
Dont believe the hype! This is a setup.

This is yet another ploy by the city, the police force and Adam Vaughan to rid the entertainment district of clubs. They have targeted REPUBLIK as it is the largest venue in the downtown core.

Drugs are rampant throughout many venues, and especially the smaller seedier places. The POLICE know fully well that drugs exist in every bar.
If this was about drugs, then why wouldn't the police go after actual dealers.

Besides, if you really wanted to catch these guys, could you not do it during the day, at their house, etc. They had a warrant for Dan Park, who is not a drug dealer.

The fact that they targeted a major club, in the middle of the strip, at a peak point on a Saturday night is the question. The report doesnt say anything about 15-20 armed and loaded Emergency Task Force storming the club single file with guns pointed and flashlights, sending all 1500 patrons in to shock and placing them all in danger. The report doesnt talk about staff and patrons in the VIP lounge pinned down to the ground at gun point on top of broken glass, etc.

The Agenda here is clear. Target a club, find a reason to arrest someone, blast it to the media, strike fear in the hearts of clubbers and their parents who will deem that the club district is unsafe and a drug den, shut down clubs.

Again, if you were hurt by police or present this night please contact the club at 416 598 1632, leave your name and phone number. We will contact you for your info.

We need the truth to come out.

From another promoter:

quote:
Wow. What a ing joke! I'm lost for words, other than...do they take us to be that ing naive? I worked for Dan and for those of you who also know him and worked for him...it's actually funny to think that he has time to or would even be stupid enough to run a mini-cartel during the hours of operation at Republik. C'mon folks, reality check. This whole nightclub defamation process is officially taking it's first steps by the city in co-operation with the Toronto Police. Welcome to the CNN version of Toronto! Good luck Dan (although I'm sure you won't be needing it)
