There really has to be more to the story than the corporate manager trafficking coke doesn't there ?!?
Unless the current description of events is grossly exagerated, this seems like overkill.
Couldn't a dozen well placed UC's/NARC's achieve the same result without 'terrorizing' innocent patrons ?!!
I'm really hoping that it did not go down like its being discribed. |
I agree 100% with you here. It seems like stragetically placed overkill. |

Like you said, you don't know the full story.
Jay, I'm not debating it must have been traumatizing for the patrons. But it could have very well caused people to be upset regardless of whether excessive force was used or not.
If you didn't see it happen, and you don't know the scale of the activity in there (which I'm presuming you don't, and if you do, you're certainly not going to admit it here) - then you can't really argue that this or that was necessary or not. |
i saw the warrant... the warrant was to search for drugs pertaining to ONE individual... Not exactly the kind of warrant that necisitates excessive force and ETF squads in a club packed full of 1000 people.
Cant you see the real picture or are you just trying to be an ass?
Normally im not so insulting but youve really crossed the line here. |

| Wondering if anyone at the venue with a camera had the grapefruits to take a few quick pictures of the raid before hitting the floor. |

Skipper, you just volunteered yourself to creating a masterlist of all the clubs/bars in toronto that pay off the police - so everyone will know which ones to avoid!
that will definitely make me feel safer about going to a club again knowing that the club won't be raided based on drug charges. |

Because I'm debating you, I've crossed the line? *bows*
Just because you were there in the building doesn't make you the authority on what happened.
I'm not suggesting that the force was definitely not excessive - it may very well have been. but since I wasn't there, and I'm not involved in the activity, I can't really say. My argument is that you can't really say either. I think the notion that this kind of force was used with absolutely no grounds is a pretty bold statement and I'm hesitant to agree with it, knowing that criminal activity in clubland is rampant. |

I am not knocking Police Officers. I believe that theirs is an extremely difficult and thankless job.
But I find it very interesting that when Police are present, many people I know don't feel safe and secure. Instead they feel nervous, as if they are doing something wrong even when they are not.
Im sure those people who experienced this first hand who were innocent of any wrong doing will have serious issues trusting Police in the future. |

Actually, I should have qualified that - if the club you are at is involved in criminal activity, and not paying off the right people in the right amount, the risk for this to happen is pretty high. |
So, how would the general public know which clubs pay off the right people? Is there some sort of masterlist you have somewhere? |

No. You're merely an witness.
You know more than everyone else here to what happened, but nothing suggests to me that you have definite full picture of exactly what transpired. (And that also includes the police motive for the raid, which you can only offer speculation) |
