Sure hope so. I'm hoping this is just another TA exaggeration for the sake of the club, and future events.

I am new here and all, but can't we stick to the issue at hand and not waste posts attacking each other for each other's opinions? If you want to fight amongst yourselves, use the PM button.

****THIS WAS A SET UP***** NONE OF THIS IS TRUE. I HAVE NEVER SOLD DRUGS IN MY LIFE. Please do not believe what you will likely be hearing and reading over the next little while.

IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WHO WAS HURT IN THE RAID OR TREATED UNFAIRLY PLEASE CONTACT THE CLUB AND YOU WILL BE PART OF A LARGE GROUP THAT WILL BE HEARD BY THE GOVERNMENT!!!

I would love to clear the air for everyone on this website, but I have been advised by my counsel not to give any details until the matter is resolved. The truth will be uncovered in due time and I'm hoping that the community with whom I have worked and loved for the past 14 years will be there to support me during this time.

If you know me, you already know the truth.

Thank you my friends,
Daniel Park

i dont think the charges are true. It was a witch hunt pure and simple with political motivations. I know these people very very well.

Dude, I respect your opinion most of the time, and I know this incident is very shocking for many people, but I'm not the type to get caught up in sensationalism.

I'm not discounting your version of the story. Heck, from the information I've heard so far, it sounds like police did use excessive force for the type of warrant they were authorized.

But I refuse to make a final judgement on the issue until I get a better picture of exactly what happened. So far, all we have is few eyewitness accounts and vague info from police websites.

Feel free to add more info as you come across it.

But don't try to pass off your version of the story as the definitive version of what happened and that you must be right, because by your admission, you didn't see the whole thing, nor do you have access to police side of the story.

thats fine..but i was adressing that more to skipper..

Obviously i know a lot more about this than most. to pass my comments off as baseless is what was insulting. Of course you should always try and get the full story..... But i was basically i was being told to shut up as im "just an employee"

I don't know what the procedures are on that or even if it can be done..

Anyone???

Jay, since you work at Republik, have you heard any thing about an inquest? Certainly, there should be many witnesses for an event of this nature willing to testify.

Regardless of the motivations behind this organized raid, the fact that police entered the premises "en masse" with guns drawn while a club is at capacity certainly demonstrates (at the very least) a complete lack of respect for public safety and a collective abuse of authority. Why didn't they use the back door if the goal was to arrest somebody in management? Wouldn't it make sense to lessen the time it takes to get to your goal rather than extend it? Seems like pretty strait forward logic to me.

On Sunday July 29, 2007 I was at Republik Nightclub. At about 1:10 a.m I have made my way upstairs to the VIP lounge for a break, to get couple of drinks. As I got upstairs, I headed straight to the DJ booth where my friends usually hung out. In about 5 or so minutes I saw an ETF officer storm into the backdoor of the VIP lounge with a semi-automatic sub machine gun wearing grey jump suite and a black helmet, then the second one appeared from the same door the first one entered. At first they looked around the club as if they were examining the place, and then in about 30 seconds time the ETF officers turned around and pointed their guns at my friend and I. As the ETF officers pointed the gun at us aiming at our heads, one if them started shouting "Turn down the ing music." My friend Andrew, who was playing music at the time in the DJ booth, has shut off the music completely by turning down the master level on the mixer. The officer screamed out once again "Turn the ing music all the way down," even though the music was shut off completely, as he said the last words he reached onto the table grabbing the entire rack mount and ripping out the mixer from its niche. At this point all I heard the drivers in the speakers popping. As soon as they got this out of the way, the ETF officers ordered everybody who was present at the VIP portion of the club to go down on the floor and to place their hands where they could see them. At this point I heard people screaming, glass breaking and a lot more ETF officers as well as other type of Police units entering the VIP lounge from various different directions. Some of the Police Officer where running across VIP lounge with door ramps, other had pointed guns at people's heads. One of the patrons that were standing next to me was assaulted by the ETF officer. The patron has enquired the ETF officer about the situation, at which point the officer came next to him allegedly forced him to lay on the floor, shoved his boot against the patron's chest, his throat and in the general area near his face. Following this I noticed there were a lot of people wearing dark blue almost navy colour jackets, they were looking around VIP for someone. In around 30 minutes time the ETF officers said to get our hands up in the air and to walk out through the backdoor into the Vision Room of Republik and into the Main Republik room from there we were directed to go outside.
