Oh, and no one takes Lexus seriously as a performance machine.

Your entitled to your opinion but until youve driven the car and read all about it people shouldnt speculate on its performance.

Every auto maker has to start somewhere and I can tell you this car was worth every penny.

Oh I know its performance can beat the likes of M3, but still, it's Lexus - why are they even trying? It's like Buick coming out with a competitor to the M3.

Well said, meatsicle. The only way Lexus could come out with an M3-beater is sticking a fat 5L V8 to produce 76 more ft. lbs. of torque to make that thing go 0.2 seconds faster from 0-100 km/h (and BMW is known to overstate its official acceleration specs). The new M3 has a 4L engine that produces 2 less HP (414 vs. 416) which is lighter than the inline-6 from the previous generation.

BMW has way more racing technology and experience put into their M cars than Lexus can ever imagine with their F. The chassis and limited-slip differential is widely known to give the M3 the best handling experience out of all the high performance cars out there. I'd like to see how the IS-F did on the Nurburgring before I can acknowledge that it outperforms the M.

You can't turn off the traction control in the IS-F and even though the peak HP is lower at 6,600 RPM (not sure where the red is), nothing will beat the scream of the M when it peaks at 8,400 RPM (I think that's right at the red line).

Don't believe me?

The IS-F is great except for...

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Though Toyota/Lexus do know a thing or two about racing, having fielded this pig.

Toyota's got a great history in racing, no doubt, but why the heck would they put an audible alert that prevents downshifts and yells at you to upshift?!?! LOL at Tiff's comments:

If you're talking about IS-F then no it can't. Oh and 2 tail pipes are none functional.

Yes you can turn off the Traction Control on the IS-F I own the car.
Lexus calls it VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management). You can either have the car in its most fuel efficient mode once it starts or you can hit the sport button for more aggressive handling or take things one step further and hold the VDIM button down for 3 seconds while at a complete stop to turn all Electronic assistance off if your in the mood to roast your rear tires which Im not to keen on since I have to change them every 15,000 km with hard driving. Redline for the IS-F is 7000 RPM and with its dual intake system the sound it produces once the second valve opens is addictive at 3600 rpm...sort of like a GRUNTING sound...Ill post a few videos soon.

Like I said before to each there own but I love this car its a blast to drive and props to the M3 I think its a beautiful car aswell but we will see what happens when they go up head to head.

It has the worlds first 8 speed automatic/paddle shifting technology and when you are using the paddles they shift just as fast as the Ferrari F430 so think again dooood.

BTW that beeping sound you hear in that IS-F review is nowhere near as bad as he is stating it to be. I never ever hear the sound...its only when your sitting at redline and your not shifting the gear and its not loud at all...very faint sound...easily tolerable.
malek
that C63 is a friggin beast plus it looks way better than the M3 and the fancy toyota.

Ok the tips you see in the pic are not actually part of the end pipes but right behind that you can see the real exhuast tips both sittin in the same stack formation expept they are round not egg shaped.

BTW my IS-F kept up with my dads E63 AMG...not bad I think

I stand corrected, I thought there was only the mid-level sport mode. That sounds like fun, then, but without the LSD it's not the same; this is the complaint I hear from BMW 335i drivers.

ps. totally agree with Malek, 6.3 AMG is by far the best looking; I hate the curviness of the new M3. Previous-gen M3 ftw! ;) :p

Yeah its crazy even with the VSID on full I still can get the back end to jerk around corners and I can actually squak gears from 1st to 2nd with the paddle shifters the car is friggin fast.

I LOVE the previous gen M3...I honestly dont like where they went with the styling but whatever...everything changes sooner or later. I gues itll grow on me.
