lol!! I wonder how it will hold up against the Cobalt SS  :p

but srsly, to claim it will beat the GTR is pretty large, given that the GTR handed Porsche its 911 Turbo's ass on a platter on the Nurburgring...I'd expect this vette monster to be tested on that track!

Glad to see the 'vettes finally gettin' some respect. They're the only ones that I ever felt were worth their exorbitant price. People love to hate 'em because they're "American" but they can take any of those pansy-ass Euro imports to school.

(And don't think I'm a ballwasher for GM - I drive a Nissan and most of what GM puts out is garbage, but the 'vette and the Camaro before that have always been great ing cars).

american engineering is still a joke - but i'm sure a lot of top-notch technology was invested in this car; just look at the price! :haha:

You are a ing moron, get out of this thread.

If American engineering is such a joke, why did the Viper SRT10 ACR lap the Nurburgring in 7:22.1?

Anyway, the C6 Vette Z06 does the 'Ring in 7:42, and the 599 GTB does it in 7:47.

Argument destroyed, shut up, get out.

Clearly you know nothing about racing, if you think that the Viper "barely" beats the GT-R. A 7 second lead in a race is an eternity.

Porsche is ting all over Nissan now by claiming that they've taken a showroom floor GT-R and it does the 'Ring 25 seconds slower than Nissan claims. I can't wait to see how Nissan responds to that. I don't think anybody with a brain believes that Nissan was using the factory runflat tires when they did that 7:29 run. Nobody can tell either, because the only footage from said run is from inside the car, and there's no photo evidence showing what shoes it was wearing.

But yes, the Viper ACR beating the GT-R by 7 seconds is pretty amazing, considering the GT-R is nothing but a gigantic computerized physics defying machine, while the Viper is just raw balls-to-the-wall American iron.

If you actually watch Dodge's record setting run, the driver hits the rev limiter a whole bunch of times, misses 3rd gear completely on more than a few occasions, and down the long straight he doesn't use 5th gear at all. That 7:22 could probably be 10 seconds faster if it were a perfect run.

Again, get out.

so the facts are:

the GTR was stock - and you can't prove otherwise.
while the Viper was self-admittedly not.

and from that you...? attack Nissan? LOL

tell me, did the stock Viper barely beat the Z4? or was that an eternity too?:haha:

take your own advice and gtfo.:gsmile:

I'm not entirely sure where you get off thinking that the Viper ACR isn't a stock vehicle seeing as how you can go buy one from Dodge. They make them.

Not to mention the Z4 didn't beat the Viper in that video. Also, if you look at the 'Ring track times, a base model Viper SRT10 does it in 7:59, while a brand new 400+hp M3 does it in 8:05. There's no way a Z4 is faster than an M3, and nobody has any posted Z4 times, so your argument is null and void here.

I didn't attack Nissan, Porsche did.

Speaking with Australia’s CarsGuide this week, Porsche’s 911 product chief August Achleitner said the GT-R used by Nissan to post its official times could not have been a regular series production car.

He said Porsche took a standard GT-R bought in the United States and running on regular road tires, and was tested on the same day as the pair of 911s. According to Porsche, the GT-R posted a time of 7m 54s, with the 911 Turbo managing 7m 38s and the GT2 getting down to 7m 34s.

do you honestly think that the base model would have been able to pull off the timing the ACR did? whereas the GTR has only its base model; and I suspect if the GTR got the same sort of upgrades which the VCR got, it would have been a different story.

I never said anything about the Z4 being faster - my point is, it's sad that a superior machine like the SRT10, comapred to the Z4, yeilds such mediocre results.
