It's to get the general public more enthusiastic about the release.

It's largely directed towards music journalists, who produce reviews of the releases for publication. Aside from getting the word out, the PR agency responsible for handling the release will probably use excerpts from the review as a means of further promoting it (provided they're positive remarks, of course).

These PR agencies don't just give out promos because they want to be nice people; they clearly have an agenda, and that's to drum up further exposure early on, so they provide promos to specific people in order to do this.

Thanks, that seems to be a better explanation. ^^^^

I agree with you, but you just might be in the cross hairs of some people. 5432...

What would be the point of releasing an album if the promo was widely available?

Devoted fans I guess. I still would if I liked it, usually the promo has that robotic voice over anyways. So, it gives you a glimpse, but still forces you to buy it if you like it.

Not really. This promo, like many others, is actually pretty light on the robotic voice overs, and is at most a minor annoyance that hardly warrants buying the album if you find yourself liking it.

A good example of a promo that actually DOES pretty much just give you a glimpse is the promo to Quivver's 'Dirty Nails and Vapour Trails.' There aren't any voice overs, but each one of the tracks is cut down to only a few minutes. It's a good way to enhance sales for the album, but it makes it somewhat challenging to provide a detailed review.

As a result, that's one I'm going to be buying.

I guess I'm just a little more sensitive then most people. Overall, IMO I still think if you don't want to pay for the album, it wouldn't really matter if it was right now or a month from now.

I already posted it almost 8 pages down, it leaked a long time ago...

CD2:
01. Thom Yorke - The Eraser (Sasha Club Remix)
02. Girls In Hawaii - Flavor (Sasha Invol2ver Remix)
03. Lostep - Burma (Invol2ver Dub Mix)
04. Home Video - Gas Tank (Sasha Invol2ver Remix)
05. Charlie May - Midnight (Full Version)
06. Sasha vs Ray LaMontagne - Eclipse (CM Dub Mix)

This was confirmed as "Sasha - Three Little Piggys" on another forum. Obviously with the mashed Thom Yorke Vocals.

Anyone you has the promo can confirm?
