My reviews aren't based just on the 30 second samples. ;)

I haven't had a chance to sit and listen to it beginning to end, however - so I really don't know whether or not my kind of cobbled thoughts are actually what I think, or if that's just kind of my thoughts as I've listened to the first and second half.

Hoping to give it a full run through sometime this weekend, but not really eager to just force myself into listening to it for the sake of hearing it all.

i was just thinking, three little pigs would go great with the longest road accapella.

The intro by Badger instantly sets in a dark mood for the mix, and conjures the sounds of standing in a New York Subway station, seeing a glimpse of a pack of cars pass, while the Telefon Tel Aviv track slowly creeps in with its 80's pop sounding synths. Quite a beautiful intro, but with a few flaws. There's the occasional annoying glitchy synth over the Tel Aviv track (easily forgettable), and the awkward transition (not the only one on the mix) into Flesh, which sounds as if it came out of nowhere. Putting that aside, Flesh kicks in with some toe tapping action.

Unfortunately, the mix then crumples a little with the second half of Flesh sounding like a complete mess of sounds. The Sasha productions sound like half-ass emFire works, and there's no lyrics sung by either Ray LaMontagne or Adam Parker. Instead you get these annoying unnoticeable minimal male sex echos from both of them. I don't even think they should have been credited for the tracks. The only decent tune was the Charlie May production which builds up to a series of melodic harmonic strings, a operatic female holy church scream with a kick ass bass, but it's played briefly. The club mix of the track on CD2 should be outstanding.

The mix then follows a series of moderate at best remixes. Unlike the first Involver which took for the majority original productions and made them sound utterly superior, the opposite is done here. Instead, the original productions sound far more enjoyable, especially for the Ladytron and Apparat tracks.

The ending gets better but goes through a series of ups and downs. The last 20 minutes first starts with Couleurs driving forward with a half grin on your face, but to have it ruined with the out of place vocal sampling from Thom Yorke. The Eraser isn't remixed (a bit disappointing), and instead only played briefly on its own and used purely for sampling. The mix then goes into a down, with the soft sounding Three Little Piggys. Although not as epic sounding as some of the other tracks, it's probably one of the finer tunes and the best labeled Sasha production on the mix. Even with all that, unfortunately the track sounds a bit hollow and probably would get relentless after several listens. Sasha should have chosen to do something a little more interesting with the track or better yet, instead used it to mash with The Eraser instead of with the M83 track.

The final end to the mix starts with a brief dark chilly down until a drum kicks in with the Engineers track which is very nice. Although I love it, it sounds really out of place on the compilation because the tracks prior sound purely of glitchy electronic sounds while this is the only track I felt had at least some realistic instrumental sounds to it like drums, guitars, etc...sounds very rockish. I'd probably like to listen to this one on this own instead of on the mix.

I might need to listen to it more for it to grow on me, but a very unmemorable mix for now. I think I prefer Fundacion:NYC more than this.

The first half was really good. Ace mixing and lush sounding vocal tracks. That series of 4 tracks in 9 minutes still kills me.

Anyways, as I said, I'll probably have to listen to I2 maybe a little more.

Heck, I probably even like Avalon more than this....

I'll have to repeat the sentiments shared already upon first listen. The middle part of this album with the "Sasha" tracks was the most boring part. The beginning and end were decent enough. The acapella of The Eraser feels incredibly awkward upon first listen. It felt as though he didn't really have a spot for it in the compilation but really wanted to throw it in somewhere and randomly picked a spot. I'm also not the biggest fan of his Arcadia remix. The highlight for me would have to be his Home Video remix though it didn't stray all too far from the original.

It goes without saying which Involver I prefer more. And I'll agree with nsamadi in that I prefer Fundacion over this as well.

...and now for a partially-related question that I'm sure nsamadi can field: will there ever be another Fundacion? Since it was labeled as Fundacion: NYC I have been led to believe that he'll do other ones with different locales like Fundacion: WTC (lolworldtradecenterlol) or something like that, but I haven't heard anything to verify.
