One thing to note is how Sasha starts the mix at like 121-122 bpm, almost painfully slow and seamlessly blows it up to like 127 at the end. Good work on that front for sure. |
not that hard, mug :p |

So does my new promo. |
You have no soul. :D Oh, btw, I was on Wisconsin Avenue yesterday staring down the capitol... and then Lemos - Blow It comes rolling in. mind moment.
srsly though, you mentioned that most people who had some low expectations about this mix weren't as upset as they would have thought. I'm pretty disappointed in this mix. Maybe it's because I follow electronic music more, so I knew some of those tunes prior to going in.
Sasha was an icon for me in electronic not long ago. I started out like 5 years ago with an Oakenfold EM. I fell in love with it, and that's what really got me going into electronic. The next few years were spoiled with piss poor trance that I'm glad I was able to move away from. I discovered Zabiela, Sasha, Benz & MD, Deep Dish, and some others but Sasha was definitely the icon for me. I absolutely loved Involver, I loved some of his mixes, and his 2005 EM is practically the brother I never had.
This mix just wasn't creative to me. Plan and simple. I don't find it to be good driving music, I don't find it to be relaxing, I don't find it to be energetic. Nothing.
Maybe my taste in music has just shifted more dramatically since Involver than I had thought? |

The new Damien Lazarus, almost all of the mixes I've downloaded from the DJ promotion forum in the last six months, Sci-Fi Hi Fi volumes 4 and 5, Marcel Dettman's Berghain Mix, Ame's Fabric 42, the last few RA podcasts (specifically Pigon), Hawtin's set from DEMF, Chris Santiago live at Smartbar in June....
That is just off the top of my head - but really, taste is taste, so who cares whether or not I like Invol2ver if you do?
:conf: |
yeah, i was talking more on the lines of artist albums, not a dj mix.your right about "taste is taste" its real easy to get in a loop and listen to your favorite handful of dj's all the time. i think thats what i been doing lately. |

| After one listen, i must say i liked it. The second half in particular was great. I love the M83 - Coleurs + Thom York - The Eraser thing, really nice. |

I would be feeling it too...damnit...if I was only able to listen to the promo. Of course I have all intentions of buying the CD on Sept 9th to have it in 44KHz 16-bit Raw format....
but still...
I've been listening to GU promos for years, supporting all GU music, bought just about every GU ### release and have every Sasha CD he released. But still unable to hear the promo because the hands of the few (on this messageboard and elsewhere) won't simply post the MP3 to a webserver and post a link.
Thanks. |

I know, what jerks we must be because we're unwilling to make available something we've been entrusted by others to keep to ourselves. |

i thought this was pretty good, didnt like the track before arcadia and i thought the ladytron track just didnt fit in, sounded a bit empty or something, just dont think it works in this mix
From that point on though i thought it was really really good, apart from that horrible last track which i couldnt even listen to it was that bad
so yeah i think ill be giving this another listen :) |

Second listen and i still like it. :tongue3 It's kinda deep and epic at the same time and it definitely has that slightly dirty feel that they talked about in that interview.
And yes, the Sasha tracks in the first half are not that interesting. |
