okay, so i was pretty pumped for this album. i'm not a huge sasha fan, i do like him though, and i love fundacion NYC (i guess somebody has to, right?) and GU ibiza of course... so i was really looking forward to this. i listened to the promo copy today and i have to say i wasn't all that impressed. it's okay, and there's a string of good tracks, mostly around ladytron/M83/the track before ladytron, but the rest of it really doesn't catch my attention much.
i'll listen to it again in a few days and see if it grabs me the 2nd time. but for now i gotta say it doesn't really live up to the hype i was giving it.

so you actually say Fundacion sounds like ? |
yes thats what I meant, I only liked two tracks on Fundacion, "M.A.N.D.Y. - Jah" and "Playgroup - Behind The Wheel (DJ-Kicks Electroclash Mix)". Maybe by todays standards it means that the cd is average if two tracks on it are good:)

Are you on crack? Or too much Jupiler's? This mix is the f*cking bomb. I absolutely love it and it is even better then what i expected. Sasha deliver's! |
I guess for people like you its important to add "imho" when posting but judging by your comment you probably say "f*cking bomb" to every mix of Sasha. I guarantee you that if this same mix was released by dj "whothecares" you would say it sucks:) |

It is really quite shallow and boring for the most part. I liked the two opening tracks, then I got quickly disappointed by the Rone track, because somehow I thought it was 'Bora' that made it to the comp, not 'Flesh'.
All the Sasha songs sound bland as ; it's his another attempt at reinventing prog I guess, but it fails again. Even worse is that he even managed to 'infect' originally gorgeous tracks like 'Arcadia' with his uninspiring nu-prog kick&bass combo. Suddenly, all the vocals sound soulless, too.
The Ladytron rework is the only one that is at least decent, but the real moment of relief comes with 'Couleurs' when finally some new interesting percussions appear and the overall rhythm changes a bit.
'Sometimes I Realise' failed as a closer for me; it sounded more like something Markus Schulz and Gabriel & Dresden would collaborate on few years back.
Ableton mix can be satisfying when done right - as evidenced by the first Involver - but this was just sterile. |

YES. Vocals killed this in so many spots it hurt. |

There is a certain something missing from this mix. I honestly think its the near-subsonic frequencies that are missing. Low end. Although the music is good its also very sterile and clean....almost too clean, too tight, too computerized.
Its like that smell you get in the waiting room of a dentist office. |

Do you feel that his version of Destroy Everything You Touch would have been better without the vocal? I feel that it made the song to be honest. Although, I suppose I can see why some people would rather do without it. It's pretty hectic but I think that's what I like about it. |

+1, that track wouldn't be anywhere as good without the vox |

Can't please everyone all the time. I enjoyed it.
Then again I didn't have any expectations for it to begin with. |
