Yep, just what I thought. You're a stirrer. A classic stirrer.
You are unable to input anything even remotely useful to a discussion and just say anything to piss people off.
A classic internet troll and stirrer. |

Looks like you are more ignorant than an atheist. |
You've obviously missed the emoticon in there  |

There are definitely difference but that's basically down to the way that the religion is taught. At the core, they are virtually the same. |
Actually, there are significant differences. It depends on the specific examples (Protestant & Lutheran beliefs are much closer than, say, those of Baptists & Catholics). |

yes, I suppose I could be viewed as classic. Thankyou.
I am able to imput many remotely useful things to a discussion though, as others on this forum would confirm.
However, for entertainment purposes I am able to choose whether or not to do so.
If you could not tell by my original post at the start of the thread, how my attitude was towards this subject, than you are an idiot. It was clearly for entertainment. |

If you use the term "troll" people will think you are in the know about internets cultures! |

Well there are exceptions to every rule, and there always will be.
This is a discussion, and a good one at that (I'm not referring to the initial COR-typical rants), and when talking about matters of any belief system generalisation will occur. Though it may be a flawed way of addressing such topics it does set the tone for open discussion.
After all, this is a discussion board ;) |
I have no problem with discussing it (as should be pretty obvious by now). The attacks & insults & mocking, though, has no place here or anywhere, in reference to something like religion. I'm all for all of that in the right place, but, to me, such things strike a nerve, nearly to the point of those regarding race or nationality. Unlike those, it is due to choice, but it's just as personal and offensive to those at the other end of such remarks. As I said, I have no personal stake in this. I just don't appreciate seeing such comments, particularly knowing that most of those insulted by them won't say anything. |

Yes, it was obvious. However, to most people, this isn't an appropriate topic to bandy about for amusement & lulz. There are millions of others that don't require offensive stereotypes, hatred, & intolerance.
I've got nothing against -stirring, though :) |

I was responding to Fledz's comment about generalisation, not defending the original post. I see how you could have misinterpreted that though.
Note to self: quote applicable comment next time |

As a gay black kid I've experienced my fair share of hatred and intolerance from christians (and others of course!) I don't really think my original post used any stereotypes, hatred or intolerance.
Beleive it or not, my original post really did not bash christians that much...note that i requested we not simply try to prove their religion wrong?
Go back and read my post, I'm serious. I said something like
"without simply proving their religion wrong (cuz thats easy)"
All I wanted to do was put my finger on those little paradoxes. Those questions that can't be answered. Even you must admit those exist. |

richard dawkins: the god delusion. best book of the last decade. read it. it shows, in so many damning (lol) ways, just why religion is the tiest thing ever.
to all of you defending it, saying basically "we're not ramming it down anyone's throats" -bull. the entire world is forced to adhere to different religiously-inspired laws and/or attitudes that do nobody any good. have your irrational beliefs if you must, but keep it in your own home. dont pervert the public sphere with your superstitious nonsense.
until this perversion stops, any atheist is justified in railing against religion and the many plagues it causes. |

the "(cuz that's easy)" puts it under the "make fun of christians and how stupid they are lol" category, not the "have a rational, interesting discussion about religion"
Whether you feel it exhibited any, itself, it invited such responses, and had begun to get them. |
