Hey guys,

so i was driving down Eglinton Ave yesterday when boom my car died. I'm not sure what the problem is yet but i have been playing with the idea of buying a new car for some time now, especially with the prices being what they are.

If there is anyone on here that can offer some negotiating advice when going into these dealerships it would be much appriciated.

I know it is wise not to mention that i have a vehicle for trade in until after I have negotiated the lowest price possible, that much I know but any other advice I would once again apprciate.

i'm thinkin of a few cars that have caught my eye.

Honda Civic
Jeep Wrangler
Subaru Imprezza
Toyota Corrola
Mazda 3

I have 20000 cash. Not financing, straigt up cash on the spot. I dont know if that help with the negotiations or not.

Tip number 1......

NEVER buy a used car from a Persian...

Tip number 2...

Take this 20 G's straight to the mazda dealer and pick up a 3...

It's the best car for value on your list...

i just bought a new impreza.. picking it up on monday! :D

20k won't be enough for the base model.. you'll need about another 5, maybe a lil' less for the sedan.. mine is the sport 5-door, which ended up being around 29k

Never buy the same day you visit a dealer.
Never buy the same day you revisit that dealer.

Negotiate each time, and walk away each time. You must do this. Each time after leaving, they call you in the next few days inviting wou back with a better offer. Keep loballing, walk away, and you're 3rd visit is one you hammer even more.

Out of that 20k you have, spend $40-65 to know the dealer's actual cost, not just the invoice, which is BS, considering all the unwritten dealer incentives he won't show you. See http://www.apa.ca/. You hear about this site all the time on the radio car shows on talk radio shows.

When buying a new car, you should be working your way UP from a price, not DOWN from a price.

The new Mazda 3's are really awesome. I'd suggest getting that. With cash in your hand you can make good deals too.
