| Consider buying used and from a dealer's auction. Best chance of getting a good price for a car - wholesale + reconditioning costs. |

| if you buy a "used" car from the dealer, current year model with even 10K on it, it will cost you at least 6-7 Gs less (thats what we found when shopping for my sister's car...but she insisted on new so woopti doo) |

LOL, dear lord, I had to drive one of those things for a rental and jesus, what a box. I had to drive like a on Highway 7 because I didn't think it would be able to get from 60 to 70 fast enough to avoid being rear-ended.
You guys can say whatever you like, my (new) Altima has been worth every penny I paid, and I know for a fact that previous-year models, even 1 year older, had a lot of problems. I don't believe it's post-purchase rationalization either, because I originally got the Corolla new and after a while really started to hate it.
There's nothing wrong with buying a new car. You have much more negotiating power than a used car and can often get better terms if that's your thing (if paying cash, I guess that part doesn't matter). |

I bought one new myself, and this little tank lasted me 12 years, whose only problems were typical wear and expected maintenence, nothing major ever. My Accent accelerated just fine. There was an economy/normal button that controlled acceleration, you probably didn't notice it. There was also an overdrive thumb button.
The new models however are made sub-compact now, where my Accent was a compact in those days. |

What the heck? Really?? I've been driving a standard transmission Accent these past few days and that little sucker can really go. Obviously it's not a Nissan Altima or a Lexus but it'll definitely get you from point A to point B. |

So I found out that the cause of my car problem on Friday was the timing belt. $950 + tax to repair. I told them to go ahead. I need time to really look around and find some good deals and test drive some cars. But I think I'm going to go for a used car at this point. 2007 or newer with 25000 kms or less.
Thank you for the advice everybody.
A new car would be nice but when you add in the taxes and freight and dealer administration charges, the price on a tag and the final price are astronomically different. |

I won't go near a Chysler ever again. I'm starting to rethink the Jeep as well as it is a Chrysler product as well, just a different name. |

I guess I've been spoiled, but that was a brand-spankin' new Accent and even when I was driving the '04 Corolla S I remember it having more spunk than that.
Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone... I honestly didn't think there'd be any Accent owners/drivers here, lol, I've never met one. |
