Why do you say that? |
Because you are over-paying. Might as well get something 1 year old (a trade-in or off-lease) and save 35% off the retail. |

You're ignoring financing. If you get the 0% or 0.9% APR then you can take the same money, throw it into some reasonably safe investment, and end up paying practically nothing on balance. You won't get those deals with a used car.
Besides, it's very hard to find a 1-year-old car; most leases are 3 years.

I have 20000 cash. Not financing, straigt up cash on the spot. I dont know if that help with the negotiations or not. |
It won't really "help" with the negotiation because dealerships want to ding you with their crappy high-interest leases, but it does tend to make negotiations a little more cut-and-dry, because a lot of the dealers love to try to negotiate a monthly payment and fiddle around with rates to get you to pay a really high price.
Don't expect to get offered a lower price just because you have cash - more likely they'll try to rip you off. As AJ said, you've still gotta negotiate if you want to get a good deal. |

it's always been the case but with a new car you get some perks as well
like you know it's never been driven, been in a car accident, all the parts are brand new. you get 4 years dealer warranty on parts/work/tow (depends what package) etc etc |

All major brands have used vehicle programs where you can easily find 1 year old cars (usually trade-ins or off-lease [corporate leases are often shorter than 3 year, or even lease turn-ins]).
I'm not saying buy a used car from the guy on the corner. Get a certified pre-owned vehicle and save a ton (vs. buying new) and still get a car that is reliable, great-condition and warrantied.
And even if the money for a new car costs you nothing - I'd still rather pay $20k vs $30k for a vehicle (although some certified pre-owned are now offering free money as well). |

There's tons of 1 year old cars, even more now than ever.
You can actually get a quote for a car/model/options/year/color at a dealer. |

you could buy like 5 of these for 20K...drive a different one every day and just don't pay insurance. seems logical right? |

Your body style is much nicer...I don't know what mazda was thinking with that redesign...
My wife has a 2006 3 and it's an amazing little car for the price...
The new interiors are sick as hell though... |

Once you know the REAL dealer cost, what the dealer really pays after he gets all his rebates and incentives from the manufacturer, you should work you way up from that price, not the MSRP which is a big joke. Having the dealer's actual cost is the biggest weapon you can have to negotiate a fair profit for him, and the right price for you.
Get the real cost from APA or the other site someone suggested. APA has been around the longest and most reputable. |
