Speaking of grinding gears, at Cayuga this past Saturday a dude with a pretty hotted-up RSX blew his tranny coming out of the corner onto the front straight. Also my buddy with his RX-8 can't drive for , holy gear grinding. Also came into one corner way too hot, went off the track, ate a few cones and tore his rear valance off. Good times.

Me, well, I just burned up my tires and pads like a mother******, but I'll be going back ASAP. Way too much fun. The best part was keeping up with an Evo IX MR in the twisties. That guy was pissed, hahah.

So a Mazda 3 hatch?

What year? Model? Mods? You take it racing?

(I just got one, wondering what I could do to mine)
VERTiG0
It's an '05 GT hatch, stick, missing only leather and a sunroof which I'd rather avoid anyway.

No mods at all. The only thing on it that isn't stock are the tires, which are some semi-ty Toyos.

Yes I now take it racing - this past Saturday was my first day there.

Here's a video of in-car in my buddy's '08 Civic Si sedan. This run I went out with him just to get a feel for the line of the track before I went out myself. Pardon the camerawork, I put the camera down into my lap around where the race marshalls were - I wasn't sure they would be okay with me having a camera in the vehicle. Turns out they don't give a .

Next time I'll mount the GoPro to my roof and get some decent footage of me chasing down far more expensive and faster cars in the tight turns.

Hmm, yeah... mine is 2006, auto, GT sunroof... no leather either.

Was thinking of some things to do to it... cold air intake is what my bro suggested. Tired are ok right now, so gonna wait on those.

Everything else i've done so far was slowly replace all the lights with the Xenon lights, lowbeams first, interior lights, side lights, then on to the brake lights and then highbeams and reverse.

But was wondering what kind of cheaper things I could do for performance...

Euphorica
i hope you didnt put an hid kit in there.... if so = fail.

take it out and stop blinding on coming traffic.

Im sure the evo would eat the mazda to, if the guy knows what hes doing. ;)

I havent been lapping in a couple yrs. I used to go. Likely get out again this coming summer.
The Si is a great ride!
your buddy needs to be more smooth and his lines arent the greatest. Just sayin.

Hope you had fun!

there really isnt much....cheap and performance dont go hand in hand(and not for a car like yours). an intake is relatively cheap but wont give you anything except more sound/noise( at full throttle) which makes it more fun.

you also bought an auto (i know you had good reasons) but that takes away from the performance of the car. dont waste money buying silly things.

dont buy ugly rims. keep the stock ones and get better rubber when needed.
dont buy some cheap exhaust thatll just sound like crap.
dont paint any interior pieces. dont buy any chrome accents.
dont buy ugly tail lights or headlights
etc.
keep the car clean.

some lowering springs are pretty cheap and generally look good and help a tiny bit with handling. there are ranges of height to. so dont buy the biggest drop.
a lowered car is fine in the winter provided its not slammed..but even then if you have winter rubber youd be fine.
