My friend just emailed Niklas Harding on myspace, informing him that he had BETTER make a quick response to this thread and admit to any wrong-doing or exploiting that he had done to Anders in the past.
If Nik doesn't respond here, I suppose that we have our answer.
As for the rest of the list of alleged "djs that hire ghost producers" I can vouch that I know first hand that 90% of that list is accurate.
I also don't think this should be a flame war, but rather an open forum where the people and fans really should KNOW the truth.

the classic definition of a music producer is someone who oversees a music project assigned to him/her by an A&R. their job is to be the "boss" overlooking, coordinating, and hiring the composers, arrangers, studio musicians, recording engineers, mixdown engineers, and mastering engineers. so, technically, all of these guys mentioned did "produce" their records, just not in the sense that you guys are talking about. i think the terms you guys are looking for are more along the lines of "composer", "arranger", "sound designer", "engineer" etc... im not saying that I condone dance producers not writing their own stuff (i write all of my stuff without any help, except for the occasional mastering job because im a control freak and cant stand working with anyone else on a project) but i don't think its this horrible career blemishing thing some of you are making it out to be. If it wasn't for Sasha, maybe all of those guys would have never got into the studio together to create wonderful music like Involver or Airdrawndagger.
Just offering a different perspective. |

| I hear you, Blake, but I think people have a problem with it in the case of dance music because this scene has had a kind of independent / DIY ethic associated with it for a long time, and the idea of tunes being produced by a mysterious committee and then put out under a single person's name doesn't sit well with that. |

Niklas has already denied the accusations in this thread. If the people making the accusations are really so adamant about proving them, they should contact Anders Mikkelsen so he can confirm or deny this stuff. |

Perhaps if the credits were always like:
Cowboy Mike presents real producer - Song
Confusion might be avoided.
Does making a couple of suggestions to the producer in the digital bedroom production age make you a producer? What if your mom tells you she thinks your new bedroom production has too much bass, the drums are too loud, and the tune is too repetitive. Does that make your mother a producer?
I know some of you have pointed out that if we were to take a look at the CD sleeve, etc. It the era where most of this music is in mp3 or wav format, there is no sleeve. We just see the name of the artist and the name of the song, and that is what is credited in playlists. |
