he doesn't need to forward his career/reputation. and you don't make much money from itunes/beatport |
I know that top 10 djs often have others producing for them, as they are on the road and don't have time to produce tracks themselves. Why do they need tracks out there? In the competitive world of DJing, it seems that to become a top ranked DJ, one needs to have fresh tracks out with his/her name on them. |

UPDATE
1. I have heard Tiesto doesn't know how to produce, but hires ghost producers. | He has talked about this in many interviews, he does the rough work of the track and his co producer does the finishing part.
Every track that Tiesto has produced by himself is know, a couple of them are: Allure - Rejected, Tiesto - Nyana, and Roze - Our Love.
Each and every time another producer is involved it is ALWAYS credited. He says that he makes roughly 65% of the tunes and the engineer the rest.

2. I have heard that Josh Gabriel was the real producer of Gabriel and Dresden, and that Dave Dresden gave suggestions, but really doesn't know how to produce. | Dave Dresden is releasing music under his own name now, so.

4. I have heard that Kenneth Thomas does not know how to produce, but hires producers to produce for him. | It doesnt make sense for Oakenfold to sign and hire a guy to do work for him, who does not know how to produce.

7. DJ Sasha has gives Charlie May credit for producing for him. | In several interviews of Sasha, he clearly says exactly how they do things in studio, and there is no reason to not believe that to be true, here co producer is always credited!
Everything you say in this thread is totally unsubstantiated, and based only on rumours originating from bitter bedroom producers realising their favorite artist has an engineer for his music.
If you have the money to let engineers to the finishing work on your music, of course you would want to do that, every artist, band or group on the planet does. |

It just takes too much time to get all the sounds into place, they CAN make music, its just that they dont do the final production.
No one wants to take credit for something they didnt have anything to do with, but they do take credit.. because the musical content of the track is THEIR idea. |

because it's a way to keep their sheep entertained. most of those top 10 dj's have a line of extremely faithful sheep that suckle on their no matter how their present tracks are compared to their previous releases
just take a stroll down youtube lane and read the comments. if you market yourself in a way to attract a certain type of listener, then they'll usually stay faithful. especially to the musically uneducated
*doop doop doop*
"i LuV tiesto!, he Must AlWays hAve dA ChiX! r0x On mAynG! DaMn bet He baNged ThaT inTervIewr cH1k afTer DaT interView, doopdoop!"
just make yourself look cool, hip, socially attractive and loved and you're bound to have people following every damn thing you do. i mean some of these guys like tiesto, armin, paul, pvd, could probably make *some* dough from an album release, but it's not nearly as much as they make touring the world/endorsements to really give two s about releasing quality material like they did years back to even get to where they are now |

Update:
1. Tiesto produces 65% of his tunes, and then the producer, who he credits, finishes the tunes.
2. Dave Dresden is producing under his name, so even if he didn't know how to produce during his G&D days, he seems to have learned.
3. I have heard that Serge Devant hires producers to produce for him.
4. I have heard that Kenneth Thomas does not know how to produce, but hires producers to produce for him.
5. I have heard that Niklas Harding does not know how to produce, but hires others to produce for him.
6. I have heard that Paul Oakenfold makes his ghost writers sign contracts stipulating that that they may not tell anyone that they are producing for Oakenfold. I have also heard that Oakenfold cannot write a solid melody or physically produce a tune. Paul Oakenfold "composes for movies" but really hires a team to compose.
7. DJ Sasha gives Charlie May credit for producing for him.
8. I have heard that Paul Van Dyk knows how to produce, but hires producers to produce for him, and doesn't actually produce himself.
9. I have heard DJ Kristina Sky doesn't know how to produce, but paired up with Randy Boyer because she felt she needed productions under her belt to further her DJing career.
10. Calderone and Reddick did not produce "Sound Of Flight", but had Tom Porcell of Funabashi produce their tune for them.
11. Martin Buttrich produces for Loco Dice |

I know as a fact that there are some out there who pay an accomplished producer to produce a tune for them, from the ground up. You say "No one wants to take credit for something they didnt have anything to do with". Well, I know a guy who did take credit for a tune he had nothing to do with. Wait..it was his idea to hire the great producer to produce for him. :) |

| By the way, we are trying to dispel rumours here. Nothing to get upset about. Hopefully, we will all be closer to the truth after this information is put out to the public. I have never seen this done before, so please bare with me. :) |

Your accusations are unsubstantiated. You say my rumours "come from bitter bedroom producers realising their favorite artist has an engineer for his music." Where is YOUR proof.
Guys like Andy Moor are the real deal. He doesn't use any sound engineers, nor do many electronica producers. You say EVERY artist, band, or group on the planet does.
Your points are well taken, but you aren't arguing well I must say. |
