By "buckle under pressure" I mean Brodeur letting in soft goals and the defense looking like they all came from the leafs.

I dunno which game you're talking about but they hardly dominated. The difference between the 2 teams was that the USA played within themselves and wanted it more. The Canadians played a more erratic game. They seemed to be giving up more costly turn overs. That final play, the empty netter, summarized the game perfectly.

Miller had a huge part in it too though. From a mental standpoint I'd be feeling much better about myself if I had the number 1 goalie in the world standing behind me instead of a oldie who's past his prime.

W/e...I'm sure all the athletes are just happy to be there representing their country. Everybody's a winnar in the Olympics.

I should have included Pronger in my comments, forgot about him :p

Americans were blocking shots, played a great "road game" as MacKenzie said. Corey Perry got raped with that empty net goal, that epitomized everything.

They will go with Luongo but he too is prone to softies as well, as is Fleury. The best goalie isn't even there (Cam Ward) in my opinion.

The only good thing is that there is so much parity; no team has dominated this tourney. It's still wide open.

CAN had a great 2nd period, they were on them like tigers... USA was mostly shoddy in the 2nd. Miller was awesome. It could have easily gone 5-2 or 5-3 CAN with a lesser goalie protecting them, before the end of the 2nd.

Then in the 3rd their get up and go... got up and left.

Everyone shouldn't worry about Canada. This loss proves that all teams can have a weakness. So far US seems to be on top but i wouldn't say they are dominating the tournament.

So what we play Germany... we will use it as good practice and we will face Russia. If we can beat Russia, the team moral and confidence will sky rocket us to the finals and potentially win.

Canada has a lot of pressure on them, but I still believe we will overcome this loss. It's good for the team, they will learn. But thank God this isn't as bad as a let down as Torino.

Pronger is actually the worst defenseman on the team. He is always making stupid plays and taking stupid penalties.... he has a good shot, which he never takes. He is not in his prime anymore. I would have taken Mike Green over him after all this.

Korea has snow, and you don't need snow to speed skate indoors :P

these one-game tournaments make it easier for underdog teams with hot goaltending.

Sweden had difficulties with Germany, Russia lost to Slovakia, US were dominated by Canada.... and these are the top-seeded teams.

It's wide open.

Mike Green would have helped the powerplay but I'm not so sure he could have handled the US forecheck any better than Pronger, Boyle or Brodeur :p
