I know, I meant the amount of medals in comparison to contries competing...Russia and China are usually the only one's who come close. Winter games are a little more difficult, as the US doesnt have some of the interest there (ie: luge, skijumping, cross-country, etc....not something you see your neighbor doing everyday LOL)

Summer:

2008: (1st) USA- 110, (2nd) China: 100, (3rd) Russia: 72
2004: (1st) USA- 103, (2nd) Russia: 92: (3rd) China: 63
2000: (1st) USA- 91, (2nd) Russia: 89, (3rd) China: 59
1996: (1st) USA- 101, (2nd) Germany: 65, (3rd) Russia: 63

Why would anyone be compelled to post a comment on a blog entry that has 5,000 responses and no one will read it?

You seem to think that not being an internet dweeb means you don't care.

Those comments give a fairly good indication of how the general population feels about the story. That general indication is that the vast majority of people who read the story find it amusing, rather than a disgrace. In the end, itīs only your personal opinion that their actions were a disgrace, while itīs my opinion (and one shared by the vast majority of people who know of the story), that the on-ice celebration was an amusing show of poor judgement. What was an ACTUAL disgrace was team Canada stomping on the American flag at an earlier Olympics before the game, and our menīs team trashing their locker room (or hotel rooms, I canīt remember the exact story) back in 2006. Partying on the ice after the building has cleared out? Not so much.

In events where the USA got Silver/Bronze and Canada didn't even place on the podium, who did better? Who got the victory there when comparing the two countries?

Who cares about 2nd and 3rd? They lost, same as the rest. Do we need to look up all the ranks for every event? Maybe average out the overall rank per event to see who truly lost the best?

Winning is the only thing that matters, and Canada won more events than the United States did, in fact, more than any other country at the olympics. Therefore, Canada won the games.

Ok, so wait....does the person who wins the most races win Nascar? How about for hockey, does the team with the most wins win the division title? What about golf, how does that work? Person who has the lowest absolute round score wins the tournament? Have I been looking at things backwards all this time?
