I wouldn't say they were baboons, but I know what you mean. I felt so sad for Jenn cuz this was her chance to make history and I think she wanted it more for all of us than for herself. All the american sites are posting:
Kearney tops Heil
Kearney upsets Heil
etc.

instead of Kearney wins gold, Bahrke bronze.

They love sticking it to us, so this one pisses me off a bit, but full congratulations to Kearney.

I echo your sentiments about how Heil handled it. She won a silver and inside to her that's a loss. At the Olympics!!! True champion.

I just hope we rip it up in women's speed skating (which I think we're poised to) so that colbert nation can take a seat.

Go Jenn, you made us proud! (cuz she reads TA)

It's about conserving your energy and also the tactical aspect. Since you can't see who's behind you, the pack generally stays together, gets a rhythm, and then someone will "make a move". The last two or three (depending on the distance), they start to crank it.

In the one where Ohno won silver, the three Koreans kind of pulled a cheap shot move going to the inside right at the end but it ended up robbing them of a podium sweep (two of them collided). they got the gold though, held ohno off. Sadly Hamelin got knocked down in his semi. He def would have gotten a medal in the final.

huh?

i am honestly the last person to defend the americans but in this case i have to.

why would I be annoyed? she won the event. fair and square. there wasn't even a question who had a better run. jennifer had a good run but the american was beyond amazing. she beat her time and did better jumps and better moguls. if felt like heil took it easy and was hoping the american would up.

i didn't see any crazy celebrating or in your face antics. the american girls were just happy they won at the olympics just like anyone else would be. especially since the american girl that won has a tendency of choking in competition.

the other canadian girl, who had that beautiful jump who fell in the middle, that's who i felt bad for because she had a real chance of taking it with that trick, if only she didn't fall. she was going so fast she would have beat everyone's time.

Someone should have handed Jenn a Canadian flag... or she should have dropped her skis and have borrowed a flag from a fan

lol. speaking of americans, the short track super star getting denied the gold was exciting. if the two guys didn't fall they would have kept him out of the medals al together.

the korean's looked a little suspect to me..i thought team skating was not allowed?

A good start to the Canadian women's hockey team as they ANNIHILATED Slovakia 18-0. :eyespop:

I have to agree, on my TV, they went over and gave the Canadian girl a congratulatory hug, then took the US flag and ran around like all the other winners do in the summer/winter olympics. (Ie: was it an a$$hole thing for the Bolt from Jamaica to run around the track with the flag? no one complained about that or the million other similar celebrations?)

I have seen some REALLY poor sportsmanship, and this wasnt one of them. One can not expect the winner to not celebrate just because she beat the home team player! Thats silly and people need to toughen up if they get offended by something so NOT worth getting uptight over!

It was a good effort by both teams! dont worry, I am sure there will be tons of gloating when Canada detroys in hockey for the gold ;)

PS: I didnt see what happened in speed skating today, what happened?!?! Ihave to say in past Olympics, the koreans have ALWAYS been sooo shady, so I almost dont dare to watch out of pure FURY!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: (edit: I just realized you were referring to last nights race). whoops.

Still no gold, but we just got a bronze!!!!

Results in the women's Speed Skating 3,000m at the Richmond Oval:

1. Martina Sablikova (CZE) 4:02.53
2. Stephanie Beckert (GER) 4:04.62
3. Kristina Groves (CAN) 4:04.84

So as a Canadian of Czech origin, I must toot my horn :P

Way to go Martina Sáblíková! Obrovská gratulace! Jsi nejlepší na světě!!!

^^ I watched these races and the Czech skater totally deserved to win. She smoked the competition with a good 2-3 seconds. It's nice we got a bronze out of this event but we almost could have had silver and bronze. Clara raced an amazing race but didn't have the legs for the last 2 laps. Pity :( Groves was leading that whole race against the German skater and gave it up in the end. Hopefully the ladies can dominate in the other races which I know they'll do.

Very excited about mens moguls. We should be able to crack the podium and who knows maybe Bilodeau will be that elusive Olympian everyone is so anxiously waiting for.

GO CANADA GO!
