You might really need to see some more old disco guys play before you say this.
Knuckles is actually pretty entertaining, but with a style of his own, and which is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Very steady, smooth, effortlessly letting the music speak. And consistent, tasteful selections not stuck in the past.
While arguably not spectacular or full of pyrotechnics, it's very interesting to listen to DJs who have this self-effacing style as it actually allows for more things to come out of the speakers on their own rather than forcing it, they have a gentleness about them which in the right setting can make the party really enjoyable.
It also helps to remember that Frankie's best nights have always been playing for a gay or very mixed crowd. The straight crowd doesn't quite get certain things the same way. Which is the same with Vasquez, Tenaglia and a number of others.

Frankie has always played "gay" clubs or circuit parties. His vocal disco/house generally appeals to this crowd...not to mention Knuckles being openly gay might have an impact on this. Gays tend to support their own.
