Traxx does crazy behind the decks way better than Theo Parrish, and he can mix (like, 3-4-decks-at-any-given-time mix). In the above vid Parrish isn't doing anything other than working the isolators and getting jacked off his own tune selection. Looks pretty self-indulgent, to be honest, and probably not the best example to use if you're trying to impress his skills upon others.
(I should mention I'm totally playing devil's advocate here, as I've heard some absolutely stunning sets from Theo Parrish - mixing may not be his strong suit, but boy, does he have some beautifully deep crates and on a good day, his flow is impeccable - ymmv)

I've been listening to Parrish talk, trying to come to an understanding of the guy and honestly have a bit of a problem reconciling some of his less savory notions about race with his professed ethos in music; but he seems to speak well to his critics in this thread without justifying himself.

lol, i really dont think he would care. theo plays for himself and for the people who like what he does and get him and thats it. and this is a guy who takes deejaying much much more seriously as an artform than 99% of djs who take it more seriously as a way to get hookers and blow.

In other words, Theo Parrish is a self-indulgent and lazy DJ delivering half-assed performances when he feels like it to a fan base that lets him get away with it. Cheers for proving my point once again.

Then I can only conclude that upholding your commitment to the people that pay to see you and maintaining a professional reputation as a performer doesn't factor into your idea of "artistic integrity". Wow!! A lotta people wasted at that party.
Not a fan of his music to be honest but in those videos he seemed to have the crowd right where he wanted them. It was kinda difficult to hear and fully appreciate the trick he was trying to pull in the first vid. The dudes down the front seemed to dig it though.........

If he turns up for gigs and does a poor job and pisses off the crowd, surely the promoter has obligations to make sure his punters are happy and left with a favourable impression of the night??
If Theo Parrish turns up for gigs and train wrecks his way through the night then that's his perogative.

If you hate the gig, express that in your performance. Drop an angry set of dark-as- neurofunk, or something. If you're claiming artistic integrity and you want to make a statement, actually have some balls and make a ing good statement. Channel your feelings and emotions through the content of your performance. If Theo Parrish had absolutely ruined the vibes with the most inappropriate but artistically excellent set possible, I'd have had respect for him as an artist. I wouldn't necessarily have been very happy, but it'd make the excuses of his fanboys ring true.
And I don't see the point of this job comparison. I don't work as a DJ, my job is a completely inappropriate analogy to Theo Parrish. If you lit a spliff at work, what would happen?
