Yeah, but these are just anonymous posts on the internet. I'm sure the majority (I hope) of those assumptions are just based on online personas, not actual people :p

Why would anyone be insecure that African-Americans have influenced house music a great deal in this country? They've influenced almost every other genre as well.

Your never-ending assumptions about the character of people on this board are quite patronizing, to say the least.

I wrote: 'some'. It would be reasonable for you to at least concede that in any group of people, there will be a portion of those who will be bound to follow the usual stereotypes.

I made this remark based on certain jokes or posts, which as EddieZilker was kind enough to point out, I am not fully understanding as there is prior history to it.

But if you want to defend those who made those jokes, while I do agree that they have a right to like this sort of humor and to express themselves, I equally have a right to find some of it less than tasteful, or at the very least predictable and express that feeling.

And in truth, I only felt the need to comment because I originated the reference to gay crowds. Mr jumpy...

I don't even really think any of the jokes that have been made in this thread were even that bad. Mr. sensitive...

If taken completely out of TA context, it does look like rather random, immature, and intentionally offensive banter...which it is, but in a more self-deprecating way, with the intention of mocking ourselves and each other in reference to past, long-settled debates.

...and Jay said some stuff, too.

You call it that, I call it socially-sanctioned bigotry and groupthink from under the shroud of cowardly anonymity.

Yeah I guess it looks that way, if you're gay.

I suppose it's different when you're gleefully making fun of Tom Colotonio for being overweight.
