eh, it's not about skin color, it's about master/slave. the apes - as animals that were historically abused and used as lab test subjects, kept in cages - become the masters, and the human scientists become the slaves.
the actual racial commentary of planet of the apes is super weak and really not at all inverted - it was the lighter skinned 'intelligent' apes lording over the unintelligent dark-skinned 'savage brutes'. |
