Seems that acknowledging that House was appropriated from its mostly African-American (and sometimes gay) origins does rub some the wrong way so they feel the need to resort to strange jokes to mask the unease or insecurity?

As with anything else, all of it can be denied, deconstructed and made to fit whatever position anyway.

It's actually a number of standing 'social-circle' jokes coming home to roost. The black one has to do with a thread started by Nefardec, a while back, about how some artist was wearing black-face as a marketing ploy invoking Chicago-Detroit House, to which Theo Parrish was introduced making some fairly prejudiced remarks himself, premised with white producers who were trying to steal his style by emulating it.
This gave birth to the whole board MEME about blackness, Detroit, Chicago, et al. Prior to that, there was a producer or DJ who was selling his latest offering with the phrase, "100% Emotional, 100% Progressive". It fits in well with the Unicorn/PLUR derision Meme which has been here longer than I have.
It's not that we're uncomfortable with homosexuality, either. Okay. I only know one homosexual, here. Well, we're acquaintances, really, but he's a great guy, a capable producer, and he even did this recent YouTube which went viral:
Anyway, your allusion to Mr. Knuckles pretty much created the perfect nexus of standard Trance-Addict comedy material and it was off to the races, but we're really not a bunch of racist, homophobic twats who giggle uncomfortably when Jake gets stammering drunk and tries to make a pass at Zyklon-Jay, who I'm pretty sure isn't actually anti-Semitic.

The interview was very good though; he had some interesting (and also some stupid) things to say about racism, as well as polyrhythm and a few other topics. Nerfardec, he's a man after your own heart - at one point he mentioned duality.

Why would anyone be insecure that African-Americans have influenced house music a great deal in this country? They've influenced almost every other genre as well.
Your never-ending assumptions about the character of people on this board are quite patronizing, to say the least.

i don't think some of the assumptions about character are unwarranted given some of the that people post here
