My sober EDC, rest of the time. Rest of the time I was WASTED!

Main EDC stage.

My boy Steve Angello at Encore.

My boy Sandro Silva opening up for one of my best friends in the industry Laidback Luke at the Super You and Me arena at EDC.

Lastly my boy Tony Arzadon opening up for LMFAO at Wet Republic.

I didn't have any of the traffic issues everyone else did. One reason was because I didn't stay on the strip - we took the 215 and so it took us an hour max. I did see that Pasquale tweeted that next year they're going to try to have RV parking so there is less traffic.

Of course, sleeping all day in an RV in the middle of the desert... doesn't sound that fun to me.

But overall I thought it was a really good event. The security lines moved, the music was great, the stages were done well (except maybe the visuals being cropped at the ASOT stage), lots of to do, and the crowd was excellent. Compared to LA, there were very little underage kids (that I saw), and very little shady-looking people. And no I'm not just referring to minorities - I thought overall the crowd seemed more mature and excited to be there. I'm sure the cost, time, and location of the event helped that vs. a downtown LA rave.

I spent most of my time at the main stage. Kaskade, Alesso, Pretty Lights, Armin, and (surprisingly) Avicii were my favorites. Definitely going again, but probably spending less time at EDC (2 days tops) and more time at the club/pool party events.

same here, this is wisdom from being stuck last year.

The 215 was empty and drops you off on the 15 less then a mile from the speedway exit.

Spent about 3 hours in the car total after going all three days. Most of it in the cluster trying to get out after it got cancelled.

Best advice, get to Aliante and head to EDC from there, will save you HOURS!

Wow, what a ing great weekend in Vegas, and I didn't even attend the Speedway itself!

I was actually in Vegas for work - between the Pacman fight, the conferences and EDC I have never seen Vegas so packed. It was rammed everywhere, but the most incredibly thing was the vibe.

It was actually great to see clubbers everywhere, waling around Wynn casino, the encore bars, the restaurants in the Palazzo...and the biggest thing was that just everyone was up for a good party. Never been a fan of the candy raver thing but I have to give it to them, they really went all out without looking trashy - lot of effort going on there.

Super friendly crowd everywhere, especially at....

CARL COX AT DRAI'S

What a ing epic night :eyes: Stayed until 9am and cox just kept pumping it out. I've seen him a ton of times over the last 15 years, but that was some of the most fun I've had in a club. Really good looking and friendly crowd who were just so ing up for it, and seeing cox in such an intimate setting is where he really excels. I've said it for years, but that man really is the greatest DJ playing the circuit now. The only thing that slightly sucked was that Drai's basically don't give any information on set times and we got in there shortly after 1am only to discover Cox wasn't coming on until 5am! The warmup guys did a great job though so it was all good.

Big shout out to a bunch of guys (in case they happen to read this) in the bay area who let me use their Iphone when mine died and couldn't access my flavorus tickets.

Anyone else go to cox at Drais?

cox had the best set of edc this weekend. destroyed his stage for 2hrs. the energy his music was making was the best i felt in a while.

Was at work on Sunday at 4pm and decided I should just screw it and go to EDC… lol

I had bought EDC tickets but couldn’t go so I sold them.. on Sunday when Insomniac said they’d honor Saturday tickets (and if you didn’t have yours .. just bring your ID and CC you originally bought it with) they’d allow you admission.. I thought to myself.. well technically these tickets are gonna be free.. so it..lets go.. so I did just that.. haha

booked a rental..closed up shop at about 9pm and left OC... got to EDC about 2am.. walked around for a bit to take it all in.. hit up Super You & Me stage, saw Porter Robinson, saw Ferry, saw Carl Cox for a bit, went back to catch Aly & Fila (well one of them at least) and back to Danny T. I would of prefer to stay at Cosmic Meadows but the company I was with were quite bored and I felt bad.. damn newbs! Haha

honestly..music wise.. it was all meh to me.. other than Carl Cox.. I thought he delivered.. I will have to say I think I appreciate Danny T. at a more smaller intimate venue.

I think because I was only there 3.5 hours, I just tried to take everything as opposed to just staying in one place and enjoying the music.

I really was so lucky to go on the last day since the weather was PERFECT.. it was so nice and breezy.. it was about I think 75 degrees?

The crowd (of course was going to be young) but quite respectful..if anyone bumped into me..they were apologetic..

When we initially got there.. I got lost.. because no one was entering the venue other than taxicabs.. I made a complete circle and realized parking was right off the fwy exit.. this guy told me to park at lot 14.. BEST call I ever.. I left the venue at 5:30 and got out and onto the fwy within 20 minutes.. I had friends who were stuck there for about 3 hours and they left the party before me… got to my gfs house and power napped for 2 hours.. woke up.. ate at M resort and headed on out..

Great spontaneous trip. I was the one who talked my sisinlaw and my friend to go to EDC and they had a blast.. as for me.. the venue is just way too big for me.. don’t know if I’d go again… I can only imagine trekking between stages at freaking hot ass weather with tons more pple… no bueno!

btw.. the smaller ASOT stage on sunday felt like a mentholated landfill.. thank god i wore tennis shoes..
Sadface
Carl Cox was definitely the highlight for me, but if Tenaglia had been on earlier he might have been my fav set. He was throwing down some really twisted but I only got like 20 mins of it because we were on the way out.

It seems this is what everyone thought. The man is a legend and I think he's finally getting the recognition he deserves, because rather than the talentless fistpumping hacks (see Nerologic's post above for a comprehensive list), Cox is a true talent - always has been.

He literally threw down in Drais for 5 hours solid - the place was just bumping. I think quite a few people made it in to Drais from EDC getting shut down. I heard a lot of the other clubs in Vegas weren't allowing EDC punters in as they didn't want candy kids in there.

Might have to do Cox at Exchange LA this weekend :disbelief

This was my first and possibly my last edc. I went to my 1st ultra last year and had the time of my life. After all the buzz I heard about last years edc, I couldnt wait, but was really let down.

Friday, I walked in and was impressed with the event. It was big, seven stages and you couldnt hear the music coming from other stages while in front of one. The rides, lights, etc.. were all cool.

Traffic for us wasnt that bad, but thats mostly because I know how to maneuver in and out of traffic, although it did take us 1-2 hours each way/each day.

I was not a fan of the harder style of music that was being played. Maybe I was at the wrong stage? I mostly at the kinetic feild, and I felt that it was horribly organized. It had no flow and it would change from one style to another.

Saturday thoroughly sucked. I dont udnerstand why they turned on all the floodlights? Considering the time, everyone already did their drugs and where about to enjoy them, and the bright lights killed the vibe. Props to Markus (although I missed him), Aoki, and whoever was playing at the other kart(I was there). It still blew though.

IMO, saturday killed the moementum for sunday. It was packed to , but it didnt seem like the crowd was into it. David Guetta played the worst set I have heard of my life (and now I have experience when I say I think he sucks), and seemed to ruin my roll. I tried to get into it, but it wasnt happeneing. I dont get why everyone was trying to go hard. Kaskade sucked, all his drops were the same. Afrojack ed up a few times, everyone said he sucked, although I thought he was alright. Ohh, did anyone notice that the treble on the main stage blew out sometime during guetta/avicii's set? All I could feel was bass, and barley heard any high notes.

I am completely expecting a discount for nocturnal. I was never a fan of Insomniac, as to me it seemed like that are just capitalizing on the explotion of edm, putting on mediocre shows while giving their minimum. It did seem like they were improving and doing it more "for the love of the music", but the way this event was handled completley reversed that

The stages were shut down Saturday because of high winds. Fortunatly, Insomniac isn't stupid enough like these hillbilly's.

Sad I missed W&W, but oh well.

Mainstage is noob fest. I think I walked through the mainstage like twice all weekend. I wouldn't have fun there either.

Ultra was way more unorganized then EDC? LOL. Waiting 30 minutes to take a piss, 20 to get a beer, yeah, Ultra was way more organized...:eyespop:. EDC beer and piss is instant. Traffic sucked, but what the do you expect with a bunch of one lane roads and 100,000 people.

the problem was that it wasnt one or two lane roads. getting out of the parking lot was a maze of merges and people cutting others off. at one point before the street traffic was 7 lanes long for 2 lanes of exit (just one example)

i expect some cones to direct traffic (and maybe a few police in the parking lot to ticket people?). there are a couple key bottlenecks off the freeway on the streets they could have put cones up on as well. not even street corner, just 2 or 3 that would have really benefited. there were people driving on the shoulders as well as the dirt on both the freeway and the streets.

this isnt something that would cost tens of thousands of dollars to do or anything. it's unfortunate because most the traffic is caused by a very small percentage of the people mixed with the poor organization to create 3 hours trips for everyone

e: some people have said it was far worse this year

Regardless, I'll happily take a couple hours of traffic over what happened at Ultra, and having to wait forever to get drinks and take a piss. I was actually just thinking about it the other day, and the only entire set I stayed for at Ultra was Sven Vath. For a 3 day event, that's pretty ing lame.
