Partizan 1 - 1 Djurgården

Can't find a match report anywhere. Did anyone see this match?

It's down to the second leg in Stockholm (on August 6th) to see who we play.

Btw, is anyone going to the Bayern Munich friendly next Tuesday at SJP? I'll be right up in the level 7 Milburn.

Partizan seem pretty confident about going through, despite the fact Djurgarden have the away goal.

Their manager Lothar Matthaus played in the German side that beat Bobby Robson's England side in the 1990 World Cup semi-final on penalties. He said:

"I want to congratulate my players. They did well but had no luck. We missed so many chances and they punished us. But I am optimistic and believe we will get a result in Sweden. We are a better side than Djurgården and want to show that."

Partizan's unofficial website also seem confident they'll face the toon:

This day lady luck was not with us. Two goalposts and two crossbars stopped Partizan from totally demolishing Djurgarden, whom scored on its "only" chance. Partizan scored in the 60th minute, while Djurgarden replied in the 73rd, but also hit a post few minutes later. Next game is in Sweden next week. If todays game is any indication, Partizan should advance to the third round, as Djurgarden showed nothing that we have never seen before or that should be of any concern.

Partizan simply does not have any luck in the draw. If we defeat Djurgarden from Sweden (it's a good bet) our reward will be a match against an English side, "Newcastle United".

NUFC does not need any introduction since Partizan has already played them not too long ago. Also, Partizan fans "Grobari" and NUFC "Magpies" have a very good relations. If these two teams meet, it will be another classic. The first game would be in Belgrade on August 12th or 13th. Welcome to Serbia "Mags" ...

Obviously they're pretty biased. I can't find any Djurgarden sites in English which give their opinion on the match.

how much are newcastle charging for a ticket for that match?
evil_bastard
About 20 quid. The official NUFC site said the box office was selling tickets for the match until 3pm on Saturday, so I'm assuming it's sold out already.

I saw the game on tv. Partizan owned the game in the first half but we came back strong after their goal in the second half. Makondeles goal for us was amazing. He rounded their goalie after a great opening pass and shot the ball in the top corner of the net while offbalance.
We can play 0-0 at home and still progress. I really expected us to lose this game. Newcastle here we come! :D

The qualifier is already sold out in Newcastle?? damn you have a 50 000 capacity arena right?
evil_bastard
I think tickets for the CL qualifier on August 27th have only just gone on sale. Season ticket holders get first priority, so I doubt there'll be any left for the general public. The ticket prices for the qualifier are a bit expensive in my opinion.

Virus, if you're interested there is a forum for Swedish Newcastle fans on toontastic with quite a lot of members:

There are quite a few discussions on there about the possible Djurgarden v Newcastle match.

Here is the main website for Swedish Newcastle fans: http://www.magpies.nu/

That explain things.. I thought it would be a bit strange if the qualifier was sold out already. How much do you have to pay for a decent ticket at St James' park?

Thanks for the forum tip btw, didnt know about that one.

I hope we (djurgården) will meet Newcastle.

I´ve always wanted to see Alan Shearer.
He is one of my all-time fav footballers.
Easily my choice for best player in the premiership.

evil_bastard
A ticket at St James' for a regular Premiership match is about £25 - £30, but they sell out very fast.

Alan Shearer is 33 now, so this could be your last chance to see him. This year he was voted British Player Of The Decade: http://tenseasons.premierleague.com...alanshearer.jsp :)

mmmm Alan Shearer, you can't find anyone else around that can do a better job than he can.

I think we are expected to make the Champions League group stage. But i got a real bad feeling about Bramble continuing to make clumbsy mistakes at the back. I'd luv to see Speed link up with Woody at the back.

With all that said, the toon will prevail. I'd give anything to go to England and see Shearer rattle the net!
