Same old story again today. Attack, attack, attack. We need to learn to curb our attacking instincts.
We had the Boro game in the bag, we were 2-1 up and playing better, Jenas missed a sitter from about 5 yards which would have made it 3-1 minutes from time, when suddenly Hasselbaink's cheated a hand of god equaliser and we've pissed 2 points down the drain. It was desperately unfair but it wouldn't have happened if we'd just kept the ball or kept blasting it into the corners, rather than ruthlessly attacking and attacking until the final whistle.
Then the Spurs game and we wasted several glorious chances in the first half, we should have been 3-0 up easy at half time, but Spurs suddenly hit us on the break with a good 20 yard strike early in the second half and defend to the whistle. 3 points pissed away against poor opposition.
An unfairly disallowed goal from Shearer, a 25 yd fluke that Given caught and spilled into his net, and a second uncharacteristic blunder from Given all leave a bitter taste in the mouth, but the truth is we blew a hatload of chances and at 2-0 up we just continued to attack relentlessly, careless of the consequences of throwing everyone forward. Norwich deserve praise for a gutsy performance, they found plenty of space in our half before most of our players were camped outside their 18 yard box.
We should have 9 points, we have been the better side in all 3 of our games, and had 2 of them in the bag. But we only have 2 points. It's not going right for us, it's the typical slow start to the season like last year and the year before. We just need to hold onto the ball better and keep a bit of discipline. Bowyer coming back into central midfield will be a welcome boost. |

teapot dyer + spare part shearer cost us another game, given was unfortunate + the linesman didn't help matters twice
why on earth does dyer get the chance to wear the toon top, bowyer has heaps more commitment + passion and is a better player, shearer is slow, old + past it, play shola if kluivert still aint match fit ffs.

Dyer only got in the side because Ambrose and Jenas were injured and Bowyer has only just returned to training.
I agree on Shearer, he needs rested, that was his 3rd full game in 11 days, the guy is 34 and slowing badly. Get Kluivert or Ameobi in alongside Bellamy.
Anyone think Boumsong could be a realistic target now? He's threatened to walk out on Rangers after they were knocked out of the Champions League yesterday, and they are in financial trouble and could do with a few million after losing all that Champs League money. He's strong, quick, good in the air and was included in the French squad for Euro 2004. |

Our UEFA Cup opponents:
Hapoel Bnei Sakhnin (Israel). Games played on 16th and 30th September.
Just read this on the BBC site:

 I'll believe it when I see it. |

Given: Defender should be top target
Shay Given believes Newcastle should turn their attentions to luring a centre-half to the club if they fail in their bid to sign Wayne Rooney.
The Everton striker handed in a transfer request with Manchester United expected to come up with the Merseysiders' expected £25m price tag.
United have already matched Newcastle's £20m offer this week with Everton rejecting the Tynesiders' second bid of £23.5m.
Given has now reflected the feeling of many Magpies fans that club chairman Freddy Shepherd and manager Sir Bobby Robson should focus their attentions on replacing defender Jonathan Woodgate, following his departure to Real Madrid.
"I know Wayne Rooney's a brilliant player, but I know we've got four very, very good centre-forwards already and I would like to see money spent on a centre-half," said the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper.
"The manager and the chairman aren't stupid, they both know that as well. It depends how much the chairman has got to spend and the club has to spend, I suppose, but for me personally and I think for the squad, we're in more need of a centre-half than a centre-forward."
Given admits he has never seen such soap opera-type drama at St James' Park as the fans questions the wisdom of the club's attempts to recruit England's 18-year-old wonderboy Rooney.
Indeed, there have also been calls for Robson's head and that of his chairman Freddy Shepherd, although neither has any appetite for defeatism.
Given insists he has seen no change in the demeanour of his manager even though he knows his time at the club will come to an end next summer.
"He's fine, he's in good form," he said. "He's in as good form as ever, to be honest. I don't see a problem. We're all in it together and we've got to stick together.
"We haven't had an ideal start and that's down to the players as much as the management team, so it's important that we stick together when times are hard because the only way is up.
"We've got to fight to get the club going back up the league - and it is early days. We've only played three games, but the gaffer is fine as far as I'm concerned."
|
We should forget about Rooney altogether and get a full back if not 2. |

Robbed by the referee AGAIN! What the is the problem with these twats.
Newcastle are 2-1 up, Bellamy races clear about to make it 3-1 to Newcastle, Sorensen comes out of his box and deliberately handles the ball. AUTOMATIC RED CARD. No, apparently just a yellow. This referee doesn't even know the ing rules.
Our defence is a ing embarrassment and the referees aren't helping. We are well overdue some luck.
Freddy Shepherd, buy a defender now. |

| That just sums Newcastle up. There has to be some major changes. 2 points out of 12? They all want a kick up the ing arse. |

We should have at least 10 points out of 4 games, we've dominated three games and played well today.
We are far too weak with referees, can you imagine Alex Ferguson's reaction if he saw his side lose 2 points to a handball, have his opening goal ruled out when there was nothing wrong with it and see the opposition keeper booked for handling the ball deliberately outside of his box. I'd like us to get a referee who understands the rules, because we would have been 3-1 up or playing against 10 men, instead we got shafted big time.
I think there's a good chance Bobby Robson will lose his job in the next fortnight. Freddy Shepherd has to get a defender or the fans will be baying for his blood as well, we haven't won away since last October because we keep conceding last minute goals, so he goes out to spend 25M on a striker? What the is he playing at? |

Sir Bobby should take a look at his young apprentice and learn a few tips from him now. Mourinho has got it down and im loving it. shocker wen we went behind after 12 seconds, however piled on the presure, got it back then cruised to the finish while still attacking, but more importantly crushing any southampton attacks, reminiscent of our previous games.
p.s Tiago looks like a ing steal :D
T-I-A-G-O, He comes from Portugal, He hates the arsenal :D |
