SkySports and BBC have taken up the Woodgate to Real Madrid story.

Bellamy's goal against Latvia last night:

His 4th goal in 4 games (Rangers, Celtic, Middlesbrough, Latvia).
evil_bastard
, it looks like there is a lot of truth in the Woodgate to Real Madrid stories, for about 15M pound. It's all over the Newcastle and Madrid press and neither club has denied it. Newcastle's Chronicle and Madrid's AS paper both say the deal will go through.

We have 11 days to find a replacement.

I hope it aint true :(

Jonathan Woodgate is on the verge of joining Real Madrid, according to the newspaper that first revealed the club's interest in Michael Owen.

Marca claims a deal has been reached for the 24-year-old Newcastle defender, who will join Owen and David Beckham at the Bernabeu for a fee of about £15m.

Madrid coach Juan Antonio Camacho is desperate to boost his defence.

But Woodgate is still expected to be out for two to three weeks as he recovers from a serious thigh injury.

And the major stumbling block to Woodgate's transfer could be the medical.

The transfer window closes on 31 August and the defender would have to prove his fitness if the move was to happen.

Woodgate has not played since rupturing a thigh muscle in April and recently visited a German specialist in a bid to discover why it has taken so long for the injury to clear.

The defender has managed just 28 league games for the Magpies since his £9m move from Leeds in January 2003 and played 18 times in the Premiership last season.

Marca further reports that Camacho himself recommended signing Woodgate to the Real board, while the club were also said to be interested in Inter Milan's Fabio Cannavaro.

Real have already bolstered their defence this summer with the signing of Argentine defender Walter Samuel from Roma.

Jose Angel Sanchez - who negotiated David Beckham and Owen's transfers to Real - is reported to have recently visited Tyneside to try and thrash out the terms of a deal.

Woodgate has three years left on his current deal.

Please dont be true :(

 Real Madrid have replaced Chelski has my most hatted team at the moment.

Why do players sometimes say I could never resist playing for Real if they came calling. If I was a professional the only clubs I would want to play for would be my favorite in Inter Milan. If Real wanted me I would tell them to go fcuk off. Woodgate should do the same.

La Liga will have the England squad in 2005.

Cash in if were going to get £15million for him. He's injured more games than what he plays. But im sure he wouldnt be injured if he was told he would be on £1000 a week when injured.

All premiership clubs chould take up a policy like this and there would definately be a decrease in players injured.
Turner
right, newcastle are what we called Fcuked.

how newcastle would approach a new defender...

"dear player,

we at newcastle would like to sign you, unfortunately you have to play with andy o'brien in the heart of defence and react not only to the game, but avoid his nose and recover for him ing up. our manager is nearly dead.

thank you,
nufc"
