In the newspaper this morning, supposedly Houllier is the 2-1 favoruite for the managers job. If that was to happen we would be in more trouble than what we already are.

Toon eye Tudor move
Newcastle are considering a beat-the-deadline bid for Juventus defender Igor Tudor after failing to land Rangers' Jean-Alain Boumsong.
The Magpies would need to pay around £2m for Croatian international Tudor, who is surplus to requirements at the Stadio D'Alpi.
Juventus have signed Italian international Fabio Cannavaro, pushing 26-year-old Tudor well down their defensive pecking order.
Newcastle have been forced to seek other targets after an approach for French star Boumsong - who only joined Rangers from Auxerre this summer - failed.
"How could we possibly sell one of our best players?" Rangers chairman David Murray said. "We are trying to build a team and Jean-Alain has just arrived.

I'm not going to say too much at this stage but I think the fans will be pleasantly surprised at what results from the Woodgate deal. We didn't go into the Woodgate transfer without a long-term plan. All will be revealed soon." - Freddy Shepherd, August 2004 |
Anyone feeling pleasantly surprised? |

| The last game Newcastle won in any competition was when Woodgate started (against Chelsea). |

How long ago was that? that seems like ages ago.
But really what was Shepherd thinking when he sold Woodgate.
He blatently wont sign anyone then he will come out with , saying that he has big plans and it will be worth the wait for January as he has a number of players lined up or a class defender.
He promised the fans to expect great things with the money, balls to the that. |

had a read of all the papers on my break at work 2day bout this, the only thing in common is that it looks like douglas hall was the **** who is responsible for it all, not shepherd, hall owns 41% or 43% of newcastle shares, double shepherds, shepherd is the only one playing an active part, just doug is saying what had to happen and is.
also a lot of the papers blame it on dropping shearer, they are clueless s, shearer has been all season and crap at the end of last, he is slow + unfit, kluivert had a stormer against villa ffs

Bobby wasn't sacked because he dropped Shearer although it was 5 years to the day after Gullit did the same thing and lost his job. He was sacked because we haven't won for 10 games, because we won only 2 games away from home last season and have 2 points in 4 games this season. Bobby had also lost the respect of the dressing room, which was mainly Shepherd's fault by announcing that Bobby would be gone next summer, giving him very little power over his players.
Douglas Hall is taking the piss, he lives in Gibraltar and spends most of his time there, nobody even knows what he does for the club but he takes a massive amount out of it every year, he is one of the highest paid chairmen in Britain and nobody ever bloody sees him here. Something doesn't smell right about the way the club is being run, Shepherd and Hall seem to wield too much power and in failing to buy a defender they have lied to the fans and neglected their basic responsibilities.
It turns out the Fat Controller had no long term plan at all. The transfer window is closed, this is our defence until January:
RB: Carr
CB: Bramble, O'Brien, Hughes, Taylor
LB: Bernard
 |

Elliot still might be played as the wildcard in defence..
Carver will probably step in as care-taker for a while. |
