Yeah, it's good to have MOTD back as they don't kiss the arses of the 'big 3' as much. Mind with Chelsea, Man utd and Arsenal all playing on Sunday, then it had to be someone else. Because of the lack of adverts they have about an extra 10-15 minutes to fill which means every side gets longer highlights than on 'The Premiership'.
Belive it or not most of the London media think Boro will finish higher than Newcastle this year. I can't see it happening though :D |

I have read that as well and i think it is possible but it will come down more to if ur players can stay injury free. Its more a case of Newcastle ing up than Boro playing exceptional that will cause it. Would be so good if it happenned mind |

| i saw in the newspaper today Dyer's up for sale. Where asking £8million for him. Whos gonna pay that? get rid of him for whatever we bought him for. |

| I doubt he is for sale, I'd rather sell Jenas than Dyer, although both have not lived up to expectations yet they are still only young! give them a chance I say. |

| they both need to be sold. everyone goes on about how dyer is so quick etc, but what.......... we never get anthing out of it. he produces nothing. Robert is always getting slagged of, he scores 10 goals and about the same amount of asists. dyer should never get his game, i dunno how he gets picked for england. |

Dyer's goalscoring record is abysmal, 1 goal in his last 37 games. He can't hide behind his youth any more either, Jenas is 21 but Dyer is 25. I'd hate to see him leave in the next two weeks because we'd have less cover in midfield and no time to find a replacement, and there's no rush to cash in on him as his contract runs until 2006.
I suspect these stories have been blown out of proportion, although I'd prefer Dyer himself to deny them or apologise, so far only Bobby and Dyer's agent have denied it.
I'd be very surprised if he was to leave us in the next two weeks, I'm not sure we want to sell, I'm not sure he wants to leave, and I'm not sure anyone would give us enough money anyway. |

Jeff Stelling from Sky Sports has had his say on the Dyer issue:
| quote: | SECOND CHANCE FOR A DYER IN STRAIGHTS
The Newcastle United fans have turned Kieron Dyer into a hate figure but the issue is someway from black and white.
The local evening paper condemned Dyer for his refusal to play for Toon Army and a two-page spread left nobody in any doubt of the mood on Tyneside.
The Geordies have bared their souls to the Evening Chronicle and they all had the same message: he should never be seen in a Newcastle shirt again.
Dyer's sin if you missed it was allegedly turning down Bobby Robson's request to play on the right wing in the opening game of the season at Middlesbrough.
This has led to a volcanic eruption in the north-east, with fans saying they don't appreciate his attitude to the team, the region and most of all the shirt.
They are also furious about the disdainful way Dyer, after his introduction as a substitute at the Riverside, took the captain's armband off Alan Shearer.
It is true Dyer has underachieved on Tyneside in his five years: a rumoured £65,000 a week doesn't equate with 14 goals in 150 Premiership appearances.
But there is always two sides to every story. This may not be a popular view, but he could be considered a victim of his own versatility; he can do a decent job pretty much anywhere on the pitch and often has.
Time and again he has been the polyfiller to cement the cracks in Sir Bobby Robson's line-up and there is no question his form has suffered for it.
Perhaps Toon fans should look beneath the surface. Continuity is essential in football, it breeds confidence and confidence is oxygen to a professional footballer.
As for his refusal to wear the shirt - if it's true - I wonder what the reaction would have been from Alan Shearer if he was asked to play centre-half?
Would Newcastle fans have been so scathing if he would have reacted like Dyer?
Nobody wants to criticise the Newcastle fans. I've been up here all week and it takes all of two seconds to see they love their club, would die for their club.
They give unconditional support to it and in return want blood, sweat and tears. Unfortunately there may be more tears than anything else.
Though second chances aren't usually given to millionaires looking for a bit of sympathy, my advice is to give Dyer another opportunity and let him prove that he is the player we all know he could be.
Newcastle fans are known as the best around, well now is their time to prove it... |
I agree with the thrust of what he is saying but I don't remember Dyer ever being asked to play centre-half! |

10M for Woody! Surely they must be bloody joking! Not being biased or anything but he IS England's best defender.
What is everyone's view on the Dyer booing incident?
I for one am a little ashamed that he was targeting while playing for England. The majority of Newcastle supporters should grow up and at least boo this saturday against Spurs.
However, he's awful when played out of position. He hasnt had a run in the center of midfield since the 2001/2002 season - where Bobby played him in his natural position, as an attacking midfielder and we achieved third. |
