Dont alwys be quick to judge... but for the ones that are killing and shooting people i agree with u they are lowlifes...but for those who steal from stores to survive nothing wrong with that at all. Cloths and Food nothing wrong .... these people walking in water for hours even days to get dry ground, changing cloths is just as nessesary as having food and water.

Oh no doubt man. I completely agree with those getting a few clothes and water and food.

But the idiots stealing guns are holding up the relief effort. I just can't understand that.

if i was there - you bet your ass i'd be breaking into stores stocking up on food and water for my family...

...as for those who loot and steal shoes and tv's and whatnot...if this happened in a poor white or hispanic area, you'd be seeing the SAME thing...

i wonder if the slowness of the relief effort has anything to do with the fact that the area is predominantly black...

this statement is so true.

this is what i do not understand about the hurricane. we (america) can put so much effort into what is going on in iraq, or other countries, but why cant they do something for new orleans? i mean i think we helped those out in the tsunami faster than help is getting to our own country. i just do not understand where the government's priorities are.

as much as i dont like bush i will back up the gov on this one..

the amt of services needed throughout the entire gulf region are absolutly enormous... the logistics of getting any sort of equipment to NO that wasnt already damaged (which means this stuff ala equipment came from a long way away... like 150miles +) would take a hella long time b/c of the roads and rail all messed up.. plus getting that many troops and services and food and supply there that quick for 100,000+ people in a matter of days? nobody could have predicited it to have gotten this bad..

one of the main problems i see is that all food and all shelter was gone immediately so the food and water situation was also needed immediately.. reason why the situation got anarchic (is that a word?) in a matter of 2-3 days...

just the defense dept bringing in that many troops to help out when all of 4 days ago they (the national guard) were at home watching the storm on TV like the rest of us.. then next day get the call to all ship tons of equipment down there..

and now they say an active army brigade from N Carolina is coming to help (from 82nd airborn) and those guys were for sure sitting on teh couch watching this on TV getting ready for their upcoming iraq tour in a few months... to get a call that everythign has just been changed for 2200 people to reorgainze all them and equipment to get there...

im suprised they've done what they have so far...

movement of this many people (the military) that fast is impossible...

im very anti-bush but the gov. has actually done well and responed in all the ways it can... gas prices are like the least of their worries now... lives and the well nature of the people is 1st..

ok im done...

btw.. __nut__ i see somebody else has also taken their quantitve analysis classes on climatological stats... i know you are meterology major..

we got a donation appeal going on at the place that I work for.

They just announced that the company is going to contribute US$500,000 which will be evenly divided between the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

I pitched in for 5 bucks. It's not much, but every cent counts I guess.
