Romania had a lot of chances as well.
They only played for the tie against France, they were attacking against Italy and could've easily scored 3 goals.

Yes, they knew Netherlands would put on their B squad(which they haven't yet) before Netherlands beat France to qualify :rolleyes: |

Romania did have a few great chances but we have buffon in the back so i wouldnt say easily.....i think italy deserved it more and had better looks.....not too take anything away from romania the dark hourses in the tourny.....they did finish first in there group and thats sayin alot.....
i dont want to blame italys misfortunes on Canavaros injury.....but when u lose ur captain(i would call him the heart of the squad) A week b4 the tourny.....thats not alot a time to prepare especially since italias defence out weighs there offence.....italy is known for being slow starts but the group standings would be different if they had there man in the back.....
anyways i gotta say the te first too match ups are looking good Portugal vs Germany will be a good game and Turkey vs Croatia looks to be a good match.....even if turkey is missing there goalie.... |

still it was impossible to disregard Croatia's victory over germany 3-0 10 years ago... i don't think a single player from both team made it in the current editions... still , that defeat haunted the germans to loose another one to the inferior croat squad.
Can Portugal forget about the beating they got 2 years ago by ze germans? (3-0) |

It was 3-1 actually lol
But i guess your memory has faded because at Euro 2000 in the group stages Portugal already guaranteed qualification and played their bench against Germany and spanked them 3-0...an Germany hasn't beaten Portugal at a european championship game their previous game in 1984 ended 0-0
But like Mikey said the game isn't played on paper or stats
BTW Podolski is looking doubtful for the match |

The Azzuri's goal, buffon's save (i literally covered my eyes for that one) got the confidence and the ball rolling.
Props to Rumania, they finally are making some noise after years, Mutu is great and has been fun to watch in Serie A over the years.
Romania will NOT beat the Dutch today...it won't happen...Italy and France...i dunno at this point, Italy is in its best form all tourney since the 2nd half against Romania, not their finest form but still...also italia's squad has changed face dramatically with a few snubs and some retiree's from international play...France's WC lineup hasn't changed all that much, but alot of their dudes are old... |
