Academic nonsense? lol. This is how every society should operate, and really, this is the philosophy behind our constitution. Instances in which these ideals are not adhered to does not in any way invalidate them. |
:wtf:
:stongue:
You've never been to another OECD country (excluding Canada), have you? Don't ignore this question either.
If you did, you would realise what a complete and utter pile of America is in comparison. Your country has perhaps more problems than any other OECD country in the world, and yet you think that "this is how every society should operate." Laughable, truly laughable.
Australia has a lot of problems too (after all, we do follow America's lead), but come here for a month and you will see just how the USA really is in comparison. |

My car has adjustable lumbar support and seat heaters, so my arse isn't exactly hanging out for comfort. |

Yea, to let you know it's not all America's fault. For once.
| quote: | | yeah, and we all know that your constitution is more important than everyone else in other countries. who cares how your activities affect other people, if its protected by your constitution then it must be right! |
It's not about our constitution. The rights to life, liberty, happiness, property, are UNIVERSAL. They apply to everybody. PKC, if you want a Ford F-150, you should be able to get one!
| quote: | | ugh. its an emblem of western greed you fool. i never said it was the biggest contributor, but it IS a contributor that could be greatly lessened if you and other idiots would look past irrlevant notions like inalienable property rights  |
Don't roll your eyes at me !
There are MANY contributors. Singling out pick up trucks is trivial at best.
| quote: | | ive got a better idea. how about you come back here when you actually understand the conversation at hand? |
YOU TOO!:p |

What I would really like is an Abrams Battle Tank.
It only weighs 60 tons and uses 1 gallon per mile. Also, it's really safe. I could have an accident with anyone and I wouldn't be hurt, because I'd have 24 inches of steel protecting me. If everyone drove one we would have no deaths from accidents, because everyone would be in the same position.
I should be allowed to drive it if I want to, why shouldn't I? |

Okay, well killing people makes me happy. Should I be allowed to pursue that?
No?
Why not?
Because it impinges on others' rights! The right to live!
Well, didn't we just cover that five posts ago? That driving a big car affects other people too? It's not a carefree activity that you can do guilt-free. |
Yes we did cover it. I told you that anyone who goes out on the road is taking a risk of getting into a car accident. I also asked you for proof that trucks cause more traffic accident deaths. Still waiting. |

Both cars were crashed at 40 miles per hour. Which came off worst? |
:stongue:
From the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:
| quote: | | "Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight." |
But if you're keeping socre, my F-150 has a better crash test rating than the Mini. Read it and weep----> http://www.cars.com/go/crp/research...e=&aff=national

Think of it a different way. Let's say you and youre wife just had twin girls... your wife wanted to get a new car. Would you rather have her driving around a Mini Cooper with those 2 babies in there, or a Chevy Tahoe? Would you tell her, "I understand but baby, we need to be conscious of our carbon footprint... I'll take chances on the kids' safety". |

I did prove it, but here's more:
"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have done studies of the aggressiveness of vehicle designs. The term 'aggressiveness' is used to denote the average injury risk a vehicle imposes on occupants of other vehicles during collisions. A 2003 NHTSA study estimated that in vehicle to vehicle crashes, the design of minivans was 1.16 times as aggressive as cars, pickups were 1.39 times more aggressive, and SUVs were 1.71 times more aggressive than cars. When weight was included in the analysis, light trucks (including SUVs) were estimated to be 3.3 times more aggressive than cars in head on crashes and perhaps more so in side impact crashes."

I don't see how visiting a OECD country is even relevant. And by, OECD, do you mean, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development? Anyways, it's unfortunate you don't believe in the inalienable rights all humans should have access to. |

| What's with the "America is " talk now? haha... I don't see people risking their lives on rubber rafts in shark infested waters to get to Tazmania or Canada. America bashing cracks me up. |
